Niger State in partnership with Nasarawa State has officially opened application portal for NINATECH Smart Skills Development Programme aimed at training 10,000 people in key digital areas to prepare them for the future of work.

The registration for this initiative is now open to interested applicants.

Speaking at the launch, officials from both states described NINATECH as a major step towards creating opportunities for young people in the North Central region.

“This is more than a skills programme, it is a collaboration designed to create jobs, boost innovation, and build a cyber-resilient workforce,” the statement read.

Through the programme, participants will undergo training in the following courses:
a. Cybersecurity
b. Digital Forensics
c. Digital Entrepreneurship
d. Data Science

The target is to train 10,000 beneficiaries by 2027, with opportunities such as:
i. Internships
ii. Remote work
iii. Startup incubation for graduates of the programme

According to the organisers, the programme offers several benefits including:
i. Gain in-demand tech skills that increase your job prospects in the digital economy.
ii. Learn how to become an entrepreneur, start and grow your own digital business or freelance career.
iii. Receive a certificate of completion that validates your new skills.

Eligibility requirements include:
1. Must be citizen of Nasarawa or Niger State
2. Minimum of SSCE or equivalent qualification
3. Basic computer literacy
4. Valid means of identification (National ID, Voter’s card, etc.)
5. Access to a computer or laptop (recommended)
6. Stable internet connection (for online components)
7. Commitment to complete the 4-week program
8. Willingness to participate in practical sessions

The closing date for registration is September 11, 2025.
