August 26, 2025 – Nigerian Air Force has officially announced the opening of its application process for the Direct Short Service Commission, DSSC 34/2025.

The exercise will admit graduates and postgraduates across different professions into training as Direct Short Service Cadets.

In its release, the Force stated, “The Nigerian Air Force is enlisting graduates and postgraduates for training as Direct Short Service Cadets in various professions.”

It further stressed that the recruitment is strictly guided by eligibility standards to ensure that only qualified candidates are considered.

Eligibility requirements:
1. Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
2. Applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 32 years, while Medical Doctors (consultants) could be between the ages of 25 and 40 years at the time of the application.
3. The Exercise is not for serving personnel desiring Branch Commission. Therefore, personnel above 32 years of age are not to apply.
4. A serving personnel must be recommended by his/her Commanding Officer/Commander and must have served for 10 years and attained the rank of Cpl.
5. Applicants must not be less than 1.66m tall for males and not less than 1.63m tall for females.
6. Applicants must be free of any previous conviction(s) on criminal grounds by a court of law.
7. Applicants must be medically, physically and psychologically fit and must meet the Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standards.
8. Interested applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class Upper Division for holders of first degree and Upper Credit for HND holders. An Msc/MA as well as Computer literacy will be added advantages. Likewise, membership of relevant professional bodies is an added advantage. In addition, applicants must possess credit in English Language and Mathematics as well as 3 additional credits in subjects related to their course of study.
9. Applicants must possess NYSC Discharge Certificate or Letter of Exemption from NYSC at the time of applying for DSSC.
10. Medical applicants must possess certificates of registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria.

Online registration set to begin on Wednesday 27 August 2025 and close on Tuesday 7 October 2025.

How to apply:

Application process is free of charge and will only be available online at www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng. Interested candidates have been advised to carefully review the specific disciplines listed on the portal before filling their forms.

Upon completing the application, candidates must print out three forms as part of the process.

i. Acknowledgment Form.
ii. Parent/Guardians Consent Form.
iii. Local Government Area Attestation Form to be signed only by one of the following:

a. Military Officer from the same State as the applicant and not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy.
b. Police Officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner and above.
c. Substantive Local Government Chairman/Secretary.
d. Magistrates from Applicants’ state of origin.

Each Local Government Area Attestation Form must be supported with the passport photograph of the signee and a photocopy of either a driver’s licence, national ID card, or international passport. The Force warned that “above forms will not be generated for invalid applications.”

A zonal general aptitude test will be conducted at a date to be announced on the recruitment portal. Only applicants who pass this stage will be invited for the selection interview.
