The Abia State Government has partnered with the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0, offering a ₦150,000 monthly stipend for 12 months, in a move aimed at equipping young graduates with practical skills and improving employment opportunities across the state.

The partnership places strong emphasis on bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world work experience. Through the programme, selected graduates will be placed in reputable organisations where they will gain hands-on exposure, structured mentorship, and industry-relevant competencies designed to position them for long-term career success.

According to the state government, the initiative reflects a deliberate effort to prepare young people for the evolving demands of the labour market. “This partnership underscores Abia State’s proactive approach to equipping young graduates with critical, future-ready skills while creating pathways for meaningful employment and enterprise development,” the statement noted.

The ₦150,000 monthly stipend is expected to provide financial stability for fellows throughout the 12-month programme, allowing them to focus on developing their professional capacity without immediate economic pressure. Beyond financial support, the initiative is structured to build confidence, adaptability, and innovation among participants.

Eligibility for the programme is strictly merit-based, targeting Nigerian graduates who have completed their NYSC and demonstrate strong academic performance, professional potential, and a clear commitment to growth. Priority will also be given to candidates with digital, analytical, and problem-solving skills, reflecting the programme’s alignment with modern workplace demands.

The government further stated that “participation in the programme will be based on a transparent and merit-driven selection process,” ensuring that only qualified and motivated individuals are selected. This approach is intended to maintain credibility while attracting high-potential candidates who can contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.

Governor Alex Otti’s administration has continued to position youth empowerment as a central pillar of its economic strategy. The collaboration with NJFP 2.0 is seen as part of a broader agenda to strengthen human capital development and promote innovation-driven growth within Abia State.

Officials also highlighted that the programme will not only benefit participants but also support local businesses and institutions by connecting them with skilled and motivated young professionals. “This collaboration not only enhances employability but also supports local businesses and institutions,” the statement added.

With the expansion of NJFP 2.0, more graduates across Abia State are expected to access structured career pathways, gain valuable industry experience, and build competencies that improve their employability in both local and global markets.
