June 2, 2025 – The Adamawa State Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Hammanjuba Gatugel, received a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on Monday. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s office, focused on possible collaboration on social protection and economic empowerment programmes in Adamawa.

Hon. Gatugel welcomed the team warmly and stated, “The Fintiri-led administration is committed to partnerships that promote skill acquisition, business development, and social upliftment in Adamawa State.” He noted that the Ministry’s goals align with GIZ’s, especially in areas related to youth empowerment and sustainable entrepreneurship.

The visiting GIZ delegation was led by Panny Yunusa Bolia, Governance Adviser and Field Coordinator for GIZ Nigeria, alongside Atem Atem, the Team Lead for Social Protection in Action from the GIZ Abuja office. They presented plans under the graduation approach, a model aimed at reducing extreme poverty through skill training, cash transfers, and access to markets.

“These programmes are designed to run for 18 months and will target vulnerable groups in need of consistent support,” explained Atem. The project also includes shock-responsive interventions to help citizens affected by floods, conflicts, and other disasters.

Bolia added, “We are currently in the design phase, gathering data and consulting stakeholders. The goal is to ensure the support matches the real needs of the people in Adamawa State.” She also highlighted the importance of working with civil society organisations to make the programme inclusive and effective.
