Recall earlier that Gov Eno increased Corps members allowance to N20,000 in Akwa Ibom State. The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has now approved a monthly allowance of N20,000 for all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members of Akwa Ibom origin serving across Nigeria.

This major update was announced following the State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, July 7, 2025.

This move comes shortly after Governor Eno raised the state allowance for NYSC members serving within Akwa Ibom from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000. The new allowances will officially take effect from August 1, 2025.

Speaking about the decision, the Governor said, “This is part of the Renewed Hope – ARISE Youth Support Initiative. It is aimed at easing the financial burden on our young people and supporting their well-being during their service year.” He noted that the allowance is subject to change depending on economic conditions.

In a related development, Governor Eno had earlier approved the full reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp at Ikot Itie Idung in Nsit Atai. This aligns with his administration’s broader efforts to enhance the living and working conditions of corps members posted to the state.

The NYSC, founded in 1973, is a mandatory one-year programme for Nigerian graduates under 30. Its goal is to foster national unity, encourage development, and promote cross-cultural understanding by posting corps members to states outside their origin.

Akwa Ibom continues to be seen as a safe and supportive environment for corps members. They actively serve in key areas like education, healthcare, agriculture, and rural development.
