This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, who stated that the new release further reduces the backlog of N112 billion inherited by the present administration, dating back to 2012.

According to Umanah, with this latest payment, the total amount disbursed for gratuities now stands at N76.665 billion, covering up to May 2021. He emphasized that Governor Eno remains committed to the welfare of both serving and retired workers, describing it as one of the major priorities of his administration.

Governor Eno has also approved the release of N120 billion for the payment of contractors handling state projects. The Commissioner explained that the payment to contractors is meant to enable them to stay on site and make use of the dry season to intensify construction work and ensure projects are completed within the agreed timelines.

“We wish to state here that the payment made is limited to contractors with submitted, duly vetted, and approved Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs),” Umanah said.

The government noted that this intervention will help accelerate progress on critical projects across the state, reinforcing the administration’s dedication to fiscal discipline, timely project delivery, and social responsibility.

This latest development, according to the statement, highlights the administration’s resolve to blend infrastructure expansion with economic stability under the ARISE Agenda.

Governor Eno also extended his good wishes to the people of Akwa Ibom State, wishing them a happy and prosperous 2026 while assuring that his administration will continue to work hard in the new year toward achieving the full realization of the ARISE Agenda.
