The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched intensive training for corps members across Anambra State ahead of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled from July 8 to July 17, 2025. This is part of preparations for the state’s November 8 gubernatorial election.
The training is taking place in all 21 local government areas of the state. INEC says the aim is to equip corps members with the skills and knowledge needed to handle the voter registration process effectively.
According to officials, the training focuses on the use of biometric data capture devices, voter data management systems, and strict adherence to INEC’s electoral guidelines and protocols.
Corps members participating in the exercise have shown strong commitment to ensuring a credible voter registration process.
At Onitsha South Local Government Area, some corps members spoke to a newsman after the session. They said the training provided clear instructions on how to register Nigerians for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
One of the INEC officials at the Onitsha South training center, Mrs. Vera Ekwealor, encouraged corps members to “uphold the values of integrity, neutrality, and professionalism.” Another official, Mr. Paul Obianyo, echoed her call, reminding participants of the critical role they play in the success of the CVR.
The CVR exercise is an important part of INEC’s efforts to update the national voter register. It allows eligible Nigerians who haven’t registered to do so and gives already registered voters the chance to correct or update their information before the Anambra governorship election.
