Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in a statement issued on Wednesday, described the collaboration as part of broader efforts to formalise and accelerate the growth of Anambra’s emerging e-commerce ecosystem. He noted that the initiative is designed to unlock new economic opportunities for traders, artisans, and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to the governor, the partnership will enable local businesses to connect with wider national and global markets, while also facilitating seamless and secure transactions. Commercial centres such as Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka are expected to benefit significantly from improved digital participation and expanded online visibility.

Soludo pointed to Flutterwave’s track record in Africa’s fintech sector, highlighting the company’s role in building scalable payment infrastructure used across multiple continents. Led by co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Gbenga Agboola, the firm has continued to position itself as a key driver of digital commerce on the continent.

“Flutterwave has demonstrated how homegrown technology can solve real African challenges at scale. This collaboration is about empowering our people to transact, grow, and compete beyond borders,” the governor said.

The initiative will focus on digitising payment systems for small businesses, integrating logistics with digital payment platforms, and onboarding more traders onto structured online marketplaces. This, according to the state government, is expected to improve operational efficiency while enhancing access to new customers.

Flutterwave has gained global recognition for its cross-border payment solutions, which allow African businesses to operate more competitively within the global digital economy.

Soludo added that the state remains committed to providing the enabling environment for innovation-driven growth. “Government is laying the foundation so our youths can build and scale their ideas without barriers,” he stated.

He also called on the Anambra diaspora community to take advantage of the evolving digital landscape and invest in the state’s growing technology ecosystem.

With the partnership, Anambra is positioning itself as a key digital commerce hub in Nigeria, leveraging innovation to connect local enterprises to international markets.
