The Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has officially announced the dates for key exams affecting secondary school students across the state. According to the Examination Development Centre (EDC), the Mandatory Central Promotion Examination (MCPE) will be held from July 14 to July 25, 2025. This exam is strictly for Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2) students in the 2024/2025 academic session.
A statement signed by the Director of Examinations, Mrs. Kanu Ucheoma Peace, warned that students who fail to participate in the MCPE will not be allowed to sit for WAEC or NECO examinations.
In a related update, admission forms for the Senior Science Schools for the 2025/2026 academic session are now available.
Interested candidates can obtain the forms at science schools located in Owerrinta, Alayi, and Arian, and also at the EDC or any Zonal and Area Inspectorate Office in Abia State. The entrance exam will be held on July 10, 2025.
Registration for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will end on May 23, 2025, and the exam will start on June 17, 2025.
