June 4, 2025 – The Federal College of Education, Okene in Kogi State has officially opened massive recruitment for numerous academic and non-teaching positions. According to the institution, both internal and external candidates are welcome to apply. This exercise is expected to attract thousands of applicants due to the institution’s federal status and attractive salary structure under CONPCASS, CONTEDISS, and CONHESS schemes.
“This recruitment drive is open to all suitably qualified individuals, and we are focused on building a strong academic and professional team,” said a statement from the college.
For academic positions, the college is seeking applications for roles like Lecturer II, which requires a PhD in Special Education, Theater Arts, Educational Psychology (Measurement and Evaluation), or Educational Technology. Applicants must also be registered with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and have completed NYSC or show proof of exemption.
There are also opportunities for Librarian II, which requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science and registration with the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN). Other key roles include Lecturer III and Assistant Lecturer, requiring at least a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in various education fields like Early Childhood Care, Primary Education, and Fine & Applied Arts.
High-paying healthcare positions have also been advertised, including roles for a Medical Doctor/Officer with an MBBS/MBBCH, and Nursing Officers, Staff Nurses, and Midwives, who must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
Positions like Optometrist, Radiographer, Pharmacy Technician, and Community Health Officer are also available. All candidates in the medical category are required to complete NYSC or provide an exemption certificate.
For administrative and technical positions, the college is inviting applications for roles like Administrative Officer II, requiring a B.Sc in Political Science, Public Administration, or Management Science. Others include Accountant II, Information Officer II, Programme Analyst, and Environmental Health Officer.
Applicants for these positions must hold relevant degrees or Higher National Diplomas (HND) and must have completed NYSC.
In the ICT category, the college needs Data Processing Officers, Data Assistants, and Computer Science Technicians. Positions like Quantity Surveyor, Building Officer, and Architect are open for qualified professionals with expertise in project management and architecture.
The advertisement includes opportunities for those with lower qualifications. For instance, candidates with Senior Secondary School Certificates can apply for roles like Motor Driver/Mechanic, Health Attendant, or Senior Community Health Assistant.
Sign language interpreters and radiography technicians with relevant training are also encouraged to apply. “We want inclusivity and accessibility in all roles. This is why we are actively looking for professionals like sign language interpreters to support our special education unit,” the registrar’s office stated.
