The programme is championed by Dr. Otubo Victor in collaboration with FMYD, the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), and RED Media.

About the Programme

The My Family Companion (MFC) National Reading Relay is designed as a large-scale advocacy campaign focused on improving awareness and understanding of maternal and child health across Nigeria.

At the centre of the initiative is a Guinness World Record attempt that will bring together Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora through a coordinated virtual reading exercise.

Participants will take turns reading excerpts from My Family Companion, a health education resource developed to simplify critical information around maternal and child care, while addressing harmful practices linked to preventable deaths.

The reading session will be conducted as a live relay, connecting participants across states and countries in a continuous chain. Organisers describe it as a national movement that blends education, participation, and digital engagement to reach millions.

Beyond the record attempt, the initiative is positioned as one of the largest public health awareness campaigns in Nigeria, targeting families, communities, and institutions.

All participants who successfully take part in the relay will be recognised as Guinness World Record holders, symbolising a collective national effort towards improving health outcomes for women and children.

The event will also serve as the launch platform for the MFC 1 Million Family Outreach, a broader campaign aimed at expanding access to life-saving health knowledge through media, storytelling, and community-driven engagement.
