The IDEAS-TVET Initiative has reopened applications for young Nigerians interested in learning practical and technical skills across different sectors. The programme is organised by the Federal Ministry of Education under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project.
About IDEAS-TVET Initiative
The initiative is supported by the World Bank and is focused on improving Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. The programme aims to help Nigerians gain relevant skills that can improve their income, create employment opportunities, and support better living standards.
According to the organisers, the third cohort is expected to train at least 40,000 Nigerians nationwide after successfully enrolling more than 40,000 trainees in the previous cohort.
Monthly Stipend for Trainees
Participants selected for the programme will receive a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 to support transportation and welfare expenses during the training period.
Who Can Apply
The programme is mainly open to young Nigerians who are willing to learn practical vocational and technical skills. Applicants interested in improving their employability, starting a business, or gaining industry experience are encouraged to apply.
Individuals from different states across Nigeria can register at any approved training centre closest to them.
Training Duration
Trainees will undergo a six-month programme consisting of:
• Three months of practical training
• Three months of industry internship
The training is designed to equip participants with industry-relevant skills and practical experience needed for both formal and informal sectors.
