Applications are now open for the Nigeria Green Academy 2026 organised by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung (hbs) Abuja Office. The programme is designed for young Nigerians who are passionate about social, economic, and political change in the country.

About the Programme

The Nigeria Green Academy is an annual programme that brings together young civil society activists, journalists, academic scholars, artists, and social entrepreneurs. Participants will gain knowledge, practical advocacy skills, and networks needed to tackle governance and development challenges in Nigeria.

The programme will feature activities such as fireside chats, visioning exercises, advocacy sessions, and discussions on important national issues. Fellows will also have the opportunity to build lasting connections with other young change-makers across the country.

After completing the programme, participants will become part of the Green Academy alumni network, where they can access future events, mini-grants, and funding opportunities.

About Heinrich Böll Stiftung (hbs)

Heinrich Böll Stiftung is a political foundation affiliated with the Green Party in Germany. The organisation works in over 60 countries worldwide. The Abuja Office focuses on promoting democracy, gender equality, social justice, sustainability, and human rights in Nigeria.

Programme Date and Location

The academy will take place in Abuja for five days between August and September 2026. Successful applicants will receive the exact dates later.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be between 20 and 35 years old
  • Be a civil society activist, journalist, scholar, artist, or social entrepreneur
  • Show passion, innovation, resilience, and commitment to positive change in Nigeria
  • Be available throughout the programme duration

Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. The organisers also aim to ensure diversity in gender, geography, and identity.
