The Nigerian Navy has announced the 2026 recruitment exercise for entry into its Basic Training School Batch 39, with online registration scheduled to commence on October 2 and close on October 31, 2026.

The recruitment exercise is free, and applicants have been warned not to make payments to anyone at any stage. Candidates are also allowed to submit only one application, as multiple applications will lead to disqualification.
Applicants who complete the online registration are required to print their Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form, Local Government Attestation Form and Guarantor’s Certification Form.
Successful applicants will undergo basic military training and, after completion, be recruited into the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen. The date and venues for the recruitment examination will be communicated by the Navy in due course.
The exercise covers applicants with different educational and professional backgrounds. Candidates with O’Level qualifications can apply within the stated age range, while those with OND, NCE and specified professional or trade qualifications have separate age and qualification requirements.
The Navy also provides opportunities for tradesmen, applicants in allied medical professions and sportsmen and women, subject to the requirements listed for each category.
Requirements
Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a National Identification Number. Male applicants must be at least 1.69 metres tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.65 metres. Candidates must be medically, psychologically and physically fit, meet Nigerian Navy medical and employment standards, and have no previous criminal conviction by a court of law.
O’Level applicants must be 18 to 22 years old by December 31, 2026, with at least five credits including Mathematics and English in not more than two sittings. OND/NCE applicants must be 18 to 26, while Chaplain/Imam Assistant and Drivers/Mechanic applicants must be 18 to 28. Relevant trade, medical, sports and English-language requirements also apply.
