The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has opened registration for the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the December 29, 2026 local government elections in the state.

The commission said registration for the exercise commenced on October 5 and will close on October 20, 2026.
OYSIEC Chairman, Afees Adeniyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, directing eligible applicants to register through the commission’s electronic recruitment portal within the stipulated period.
The recruitment covers six categories of ad hoc positions. They are Presiding Officer (PO), Assistant Presiding Officer (APO), Supervisor (SU), Ward Collation/Returning Officer (WCO), Local Government Returning Officer (RO) and Local Government Assistant Returning Officer (ARO).
According to the commission, applicants seeking appointment as PO or APO must possess at least an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE).
Candidates applying for SU or WCO positions must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND).
For the RO and ARO positions, OYSIEC said applicants must be Chief Lecturers or hold equivalent positions in tertiary institutions.
The commission listed several requirements for applicants. These include a functional phone number, an Android-enabled phone, a functional email address and a functional or operational commercial bank account.
Applicants must also possess the relevant educational qualifications for the positions they seek. OYSIEC said candidates will be required to upload the certificate applicable to their selected position, adding that applications below the minimum qualification will not be accepted.
The commission urged interested and qualified persons to carefully check the requirements before completing their registration. It also directed applicants who require clarification or encounter issues during the process to contact its Information Technology Management Help Desk through the official mobile lines provided by the commission.
