The 2025 Heirs Insurance Essay Championship is officially live, offering junior secondary school students in Nigeria a big chance to showcase their writing talent and win cash prizes. This year’s topic is: “The Role of Insurance in Keeping Families Safe & Secure.”
The competition is open to students in JSS1 to JSS3, with a total prize pool of ₦10.5 million. Students are expected to write essays that explain how insurance can help protect families during hard times. All entries must be typed, not more than 500 words, and must include the student’s name, school, and class. Only Word documents will be accepted.
Heirs Insurance also announced a Teachers’ Awareness Prize, rewarding educators who are promoting insurance education in schools or their community. A winning teacher will receive ₦1 million, while their school gets a ₦500,000 grant.
Organisers say all participants must upload a passport photograph and any valid ID when submitting their essay. “Please adhere strictly to the guidelines,” a statement from Heirs Insurance warned, “as non-compliance will lead to disqualification.”
The submission deadline is July 8, 2025, and early entry is strongly encouraged.
