The Opekete Foundation has opened applications for the 2026 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (FBM) Scholarship, continuing the legacy of its founder, Florence Bamidele Makanjuola.
The initiative is focused on empowering young Nigerian women through access to quality education, particularly in nursing, teaching, and STEM-related fields.
The scholarship provides financial support to female students at both secondary and university levels, with the aim of equipping them to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Scholarship Amount
- Secondary School Students: Up to ₦350,000 per annum
- University Students: Up to ₦650,000 per annum
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a female Nigerian citizen
- Be currently enrolled in or have gained admission into a public secondary school or university
- Be attending or planning to attend a government-owned institution
- Be willing to study Nursing, Teaching, or STEM-related courses (for university applicants)
Academic Requirements
Secondary School Applicants:
- Minimum of five distinctions (A or B), including English and Mathematics, in Junior WAEC
University Applicants:
- Minimum of five distinctions (A1–B3), including English and Mathematics, in WAEC or NECO (one sitting)
- Must meet the required JAMB cut-off mark for chosen course and institution
Beneficiaries are expected to maintain performance standards:
- Secondary School: At least 65% average
- University: Minimum CGPA of 3.5/5.0 per semester
Application Process
Applicants are required to:
- Write a 300-word essay explaining why they deserve the scholarship

- JAMB result
- Local Government Identification
- Admission letter
- Birth certificate
- Academic transcript
- National Identification Number (NIN)
- Passport photograph
