June 2, 2025 – The Board of International School, University of Lagos (UNILAG), has announced a massive recruitment for teaching and non-teaching roles. In an official statement released on campus, the school declared, “Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the available vacant positions in the institution.”

This development has sparked interest among job seekers, especially young graduates and professionals in Lagos and across Nigeria, as the roles come with stable government pay structures and valuable benefits. These positions fall under the International School Salary Structure (ISLSS), and the employment news is expected to attract high volumes of applications.

According to the board, the school is hiring for the following teaching roles: Assistant Tutor (Guidance & Counseling), Assistant Tutor (Geography), Assistant Tutor (Government/Civic Education), Assistant Tutor (Fine Arts), Assistant Tutor (Mathematics), Assistant Tutor (Physical & Health Education), and Assistant Tutor (Basic Tech./Technical Drawing).

Each position is placed on ISLSS 7 STEP 2, making it a suitable opportunity for early career educators looking to grow their experience in a prestigious environment like UNILAG.

To qualify, applicants must hold a B.Ed, B.Sc (Ed), or B.A. (Ed) in a relevant subject from a recognized university. Alternatively, candidates with a B.A. or B.Sc and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) are also eligible. However, the school made it clear that, “Possession of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) certificate is compulsory.”

Candidates must also provide an NYSC discharge certificate or evidence of exemption, and must have obtained five credit passes in SSCE/NECO/WASC/GCE O’Level, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings. Prior secondary school teaching experience will be considered an added advantage.

The school also opened recruitment for non-teaching staff, listing a variety of administrative and technical roles:

  • Principal Account Officer – ISLSS 11 STEP 2
  • Executive Officer (Account) – ISLSS 6 STEP 2
  • Higher Executive Officer (Store) – ISLSS 7 STEP 2
  • Higher Technical Officer (ICT/Computer Studies) – ISLSS 7 STEP 2
  • School Nurse – ISLSS 9 STEP 2
  • Administrative Assistant – ISLSS 3 STEP 6
  • Laboratory Assistant – ISLSS 3 STEP 6
  • Porter – ISLSS 3 STEP 6

For the Principal Account Officer, candidates must possess a B.Sc or HND in Accounting, along with an ICAN qualification, and six years of accounting experience. An NYSC certificate or exemption is also required, along with five O’Level credits.

Other roles require similar qualifications. For instance, the Executive Officer (Account) needs at least an OND in Accounting, while the Higher Executive Officer (Store) must hold an HND in Purchasing and Supply or related discipline.

ICT-related roles, such as the Higher Technical Officer (Computer Studies), require a B.Sc in Computer Science, while the School Nurse position demands a Registered Nursing certificate or a B.Sc in Nursing.

The Administrative Assistant, Porter, and Laboratory Assistant roles are open to individuals with just their SSCE/NECO/GCE/WASC, provided they have five credits including English and Mathematics, and not more than two sittings.
