The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has announced the start of its 2025/2026 Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme (OSS). This scholarship is aimed at Nigerian graduates who want to study abroad for a Master’s (MSc) or Doctorate (PhD) in fields connected to the oil and gas industry. The PTDF Overseas Scholarship is fully funded and covers flight tickets, tuition, health insurance, bench fees (if needed), and living expenses.
This international scholarship opportunity allows eligible Nigerians to study in top universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia. MSc scholarships are available in all four countries. However, PhD scholarships are available only in Germany, France, and Malaysia.
For those interested in studying in the UK, PhD programs will be run as a Split-Site Programme through the PTDF College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Kaduna (CPESK). This is in partnership with three respected UK universities: Robert Gordon University, University of Strathclyde, and University of Portsmouth.
PTDF’s goal is to develop skilled professionals in Nigeria’s energy sector and reduce reliance on foreign expertise. With high demand for oil and gas training, energy scholarships like this provide a great chance for career growth.
The application deadline is 4th June 2025. Interested candidates must be Nigerian citizens with strong academic records and a passion for contributing to the oil and gas sector. Fields of study must be relevant to the petroleum industry.
Applicants should submit their forms through the PTDF scholarship portal at www.scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng. More details about the programme, including requirements, available universities, and guidelines, are available on the official PTDF website: www.ptdf.gov.ng.
This is a great chance to study abroad, gain international exposure, and build a career in Nigeria’s energy sector.
