The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has begun notifying successful applicants to proceed to basic training following the recent documentation and screening exercise.

Screenshots circulating online show candidates receiving messages congratulating them on their success and informing them that they have been shortlisted for training.

One notification directs a candidate to report to the Customs Training College, Ikeja, on October 9, 2026, no later than 6 p.m. The message also provides the candidate’s details and position as Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II).

Another message sent by SMS congratulates a shortlisted applicant on completing the documentation exercise and directs the candidate to the NCS recruitment update portal for further information.

The latest development comes as the Service prepares for its 2026 Basic Course Programme. On September 30, the NCS held an induction workshop for resource persons and instructors at the Customs Training College in Ikeja.

Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Frank Onyeka said teamwork among trainers was important to preparing new officers who would uphold professionalism, discipline and integrity.

The retreat coordinator, retired Deputy Comptroller-General Greg Itotoh, said training materials covering about 19 subject areas were ready for the programme.

The notifications suggest that some applicants have progressed to the training stage. However, the circulating screenshots do not establish that every applicant has received a decision or that a complete public shortlist has been released.

Applicants are advised to rely on their individual portal status and official NCS communication for confirmed instructions. Candidates should check the portal for any extra documents or arrival instructions before travelling to Ikeja.

How to check

Applicants can visit the Nigeria Customs Service recruitment update portal at https://update.customs.gov.ng/ and log in to dashboard using their registered details to check their application status and any instructions issued to them.
