The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), in partnership with the Niger State Government, has launched a major rice distribution programme targeting vulnerable households across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The intervention saw the distribution of 25,000 bags of 10kg rice to beneficiaries drawn from the 25 local government areas of Niger State. The exercise was held at the Government House in Minna and supervised by the wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago.
Speaking during the distribution, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago described the initiative as a timely intervention that highlights the importance of collaboration between the government and private philanthropic organisations in addressing the needs of vulnerable Nigerians.
She said the support from the ADF would provide relief for many struggling families and help make the Eid-el-Kabir celebration more meaningful for beneficiaries across the state.
“The intervention is timely and demonstrates the impact that can be achieved when organisations and government work together to support people in need,” she said.
She also commended the Dangote Foundation for the donation and urged officials handling the process to ensure the rice reaches the intended beneficiaries without diversion.
General Manager of Dangote Industries Limited Abuja Office, Alhaji Ahmed Hashimu, said the initiative was part of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable households across Nigeria.
According to him, the Foundation continues to invest in humanitarian interventions covering food support, healthcare, education and other social welfare programmes.
Deputy Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Afiniki Dauda, praised the Dangote Foundation for sustaining interventions that directly impact low-income families.
Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hadiza Idris, said programmes like the rice distribution offer reassurance to residents and reflect the government’s commitment to partnerships that improve the welfare of citizens.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation to both the Niger State Government and the Aliko Dangote Foundation for the support.
