June 4, 2025 – The Delta State Government has confirmed full logistics and welfare support for 691 shortlisted candidates of Delta origin participating in the Nigerian Army’s 89th Regular Recruits Intake (RRI) screening exercise. The event will now hold from Sunday, June 8 to Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Cenotaph Complex, High Court Road, Asaba, starting from 7:00 a.m. daily.

In a press statement, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, described the development as “a historic moment,” noting that the 691 candidates represent the highest number in decades. He added, “The screening schedule has changed from the earlier June 2 to 16 timeline. All shortlisted candidates should take note of the new dates.”

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has ordered the State Awareness Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services to provide direct support, including transport, food, and coordination. “This is part of the governor’s commitment to youth empowerment and national development,” Dr. Oghenesivbe stated.

All candidates must come with original documents and be medically fit. Those with conditions like high blood pressure, epilepsy, or hypertension are advised not to report for the screening.

Successful candidates will proceed to Zaria for further training.
