The Ekiti State Broilers Production Scheme has begun recruitment for its 3rd cohort, with officials confirming that screening, examinations and onboarding are already underway. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the programme is aimed at empowering youths interested in poultry production and preparing them for commercial agriculture.
The ministry said that about 250 young people will be selected and allocated across nine clusters, including Erinfun, Ikole, Ilupeju, Ido, Technical College, Ode, Efon, Ikere and Igede. Authorities announced that contracts have been awarded for the construction of 20,000-capacity poultry pens in Ado, Ikole and Emure Ekiti.
“Our target is to have more than 100,000 birds per cycle by 2026,” Ekiti State government noted, adding that the Poultry Processing Plant is expected to be completed before then. A one-day onboarding programme will hold tomorrow at 9am for all participants to attend.
