The Ekiti State Government, in collaboration with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), has announced the commencement of a training and certification programme for youths in the state as Data Protection Officers (DPOs).
According to the notice, the programme is scheduled to hold from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8, 2026, in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The training will take place at Jibowu Hall, located within the Government House Grounds in Ado-Ekiti, and is aimed at equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required in the field of data protection.
The NDPC stated that the initiative reflects its commitment to building capacity and developing the next generation of data protection professionals in Nigeria. “NDPC is committed to raising the next generation of Data Protection experts,” the commission said.
The programme forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen data privacy awareness and compliance across the country while creating opportunities for young Nigerians to participate in the growing digital economy.
Participants are expected to undergo intensive sessions during the five-day programme, leading to certification as Data Protection Officers.
