FCMB and Animation Hub have launched a nationwide artificial intelligence (AI) education initiative targeted at young Nigerians, with the programme expected to train more than 138,000 children in AI-powered storytelling, animation, environmental awareness, and digital creativity.

The initiative, known as the Feature Earth AI Creators Programme, officially launched on Friday, June 5, 2026, to mark this year’s World Environment Day. The programme is being delivered by Animation Hub in partnership with First City Monument Bank (FCMB) under the bank’s Flip to Tech Initiative.

The project is designed to equip children between the ages of 8 and 15 with practical digital skills while encouraging them to use technology and storytelling to address environmental challenges affecting their communities.

According to the organisers, the programme will run across 5,760 schools in Nigeria, with 24 children selected from each participating school. This makes it one of the largest youth-focused AI and environmental storytelling initiatives currently being introduced in Africa.

The programme is being led by Adetunwase Adenle, four-time Guinness World Records Holder, Co-Founder of Animation Hub, Founder of Slum Art Foundation, and Project Coordinator of the Feature Earth AI Creators Programme.

Adenle said the initiative was created to ensure Nigerian children are not left behind as artificial intelligence continues to shape the future of education, creativity, and innovation globally.

“Artificial intelligence is transforming the world at an unprecedented pace, and our children deserve the opportunity to learn, create, and innovate with these tools,” Adenle said.

“We want children to move beyond being consumers of technology and become creators of ideas, solutions, and stories that can positively impact their communities.”

Through the programme, participants will learn how to use AI-powered animation tools to produce short films and visual storytelling projects focused on environmental issues such as climate change, flooding, waste management, biodiversity conservation, plastic pollution, and sustainable living practices.

The organisers explained that the initiative combines technology, environmental education, and creative storytelling to help children develop problem-solving skills while raising awareness about real-life environmental challenges facing Nigeria and other parts of Africa.

According to statements shared with Daily Sun, the programme aims to help children understand how AI can be used beyond entertainment and social media, especially in solving social and environmental problems.

The initiative also reflects the growing interest in AI education and digital upskilling for young Nigerians as schools, startups, and corporate organisations continue to invest in future-ready technology programmes.

FCMB said its partnership with Animation Hub aligns with the bank’s broader commitment to youth empowerment, sustainability, innovation, and digital inclusion through its Flip to Tech Initiative.

Speaking on the collaboration, Omoniyi Iyanda, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at FCMB, said the programme supports the bank’s long-term Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals.

“The initiative aligns with the Bank’s commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development,” Iyanda said.

“At FCMB, we believe that investing in young people is one of the most effective ways to create lasting impact.”

He added that the programme gives children early exposure to emerging technologies while encouraging them to become active participants in environmental advocacy and community development.

“Through the Flip to Tech Initiative, we are helping children gain access to emerging technologies while encouraging them to become active participants in solving environmental challenges,” he said.

“The Feature Earth AI Creators Programme reflects our commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and demonstrates how technology, education, and sustainability can work together to create meaningful change.”

The programme will end with a nationwide competition where participants will present original AI-powered environmental storytelling projects. Organisers said winners will receive cash prizes, mentorship opportunities, recognition awards, and national exposure.

Beyond the competition, organisers believe the Feature Earth AI Creators Programme could become a major platform for discovering young Nigerian creators, digital storytellers, and innovators interested in using technology for social impact.

The initiative also comes at a time when conversations around AI education, digital literacy, and climate awareness are gaining momentum across Nigeria’s education and technology sectors.

With thousands of schools expected to participate, the programme is positioned to introduce a new generation of Nigerian children to AI-driven creativity while promoting environmental consciousness through storytelling and animation.
