The Federal Government has directed applicants under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme to select new training centres following capacity issues affecting previously chosen locations.
In an email obtained by Nigeria Startup News, the TVET team informed some candidates that their selected centres can no longer accommodate additional participants after a recent review. The notice, titled “TVET Program – Center Reassignment Required,” stated that affected applicants must return to the portal and choose alternative centres to proceed with their applications.
“Following a capacity review, your selected center is currently unable to accommodate additional applicants,” the message read. “To proceed with your application, please log in to the TVET portal and choose an alternative center.”
The development has triggered confusion among applicants, many of whom say they had already completed parts of the onboarding process, including biometric verification. Some claim their application data became inaccessible shortly after visiting assigned centres.
“The center coordinator told us to calm down, that they are upgrading the system, but after we did the fingerprint, our names were no longer in the system,” one applicant said.
Others reported being unable to access their dashboards, with the platform instead prompting them to reapply. “Since that time we can’t access our dashboard, no data again, rather they direct us to reapply,” another applicant stated.
There are also indications that certain centres may have been removed entirely from the system. “They have cancelled the center,” a commenter noted, while others questioned whether the issue stemmed from centres failing to meet programme requirements.
Despite the concerns, the government has not issued any formal public statement beyond the email communication. Applicants are currently expected to revisit the TVET portal and secure new centre selections, although uncertainty remains over placement availability and whether previously completed steps will be preserved.
Nigeria Startup News reports that the TVET programme is part of ongoing federal efforts to expand technical skills and vocational training across Nigeria, targeting youth employment and workforce development.
