The Federal Government has launched GovGuide, an AI-powered platform designed to help Nigerians access government information and services more easily across different ministries and agencies.
The platform was unveiled by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, as part of efforts to improve public access to government services, especially for people facing language and digital barriers.
GovGuide is available through web and WhatsApp channels and supports English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba languages. According to the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the platform is expected to simplify how Nigerians find information relating to government services, applications, processes and opportunities.
The ministry described GovGuide as an AI-powered chatbot created to make government information “simpler, faster, and more inclusive” for Nigerians across the country.
Speaking on the launch, Tijani said the initiative was developed to address long-standing challenges many citizens face while trying to access government services.
“In Nigeria, accessing government services isn’t always easy. For millions, language and complex systems still create barriers. Long and confusing processes equal missed opportunities, especially for underserved communities,” the minister said in a video released alongside the announcement.
He explained that the platform uses artificial intelligence tools including multilingual machine translation and speech recognition systems customised for Nigerian languages to improve accessibility for citizens.
According to Tijani, GovGuide currently provides access to information across more than 35 federal ministries and over 60 government agencies.
“GovGuide provides citizens with easy access to information across more than 35 federal ministries and over 60 government agencies, helping to bridge language and information gaps while improving public service delivery,” he stated.
The minister added that the platform reflects the government’s commitment to using technology and AI to improve inclusion and service delivery for underserved and low-literacy communities.
GovGuide was developed by publicaAI with support from Meta, while the project is also backed by the National Information Technology Development Agency and the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
The government said the initiative demonstrates what can be achieved through collaboration between government institutions, private technology companies and local innovators.
Tijani encouraged Nigerians to take advantage of the platform to access government information and services more conveniently.
GovGuide is accessible through its official portal, GovGuide.ng.
