Federal government officials have held a meeting on the ongoing CDCFIB recruitment process as thousands of Nigerian applicants continue waiting for the release of the shortlist.

The meeting, hosted by the Federal Character Commission (FCC), involved the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board. (CDCFIB) Secretary and focused on what the commission described as “strategic personnel governance dialogue” across Nigeria’s paramilitary services.

In a statement shared by the FCC on Monday via X, the commission said the discussion centred on fairness, transparency and equity in recruitment.

“The focus is simple: total fairness, transparency and equity in recruitment,” the FCC stated.

The commission added that the partnership is aimed at ensuring that public service opportunities remain balanced, accessible and inclusive for Nigerians across the country.

Although the meeting has generated fresh reactions online, no official update was given regarding the release date for the CDCFIB shortlist or the next stage of the recruitment exercise.

The silence surrounding the recruitment process has continued to increase anxiety among applicants, many of whom have been waiting for months for further communication.

Across Facebook and other social media platforms, discussions around the recruitment exercise have intensified, with some applicants expressing fears that the process may experience further delays.

There have also been speculations online suggesting that aspects of the recruitment could be slowed down or paused as Nigeria gradually moves closer to the 2027 general elections. However, no government agency or official statement has confirmed such claims.

For now, there is no indication from the FCC or CDCFIB that the recruitment exercise has been cancelled or suspended.

The latest FCC meeting is being viewed by many applicants as a sign that discussions around recruitment governance and federal character compliance are still ongoing behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, several recruitment-focused Facebook pages have continued sharing encouragement messages to applicants waiting for updates.

One viral message circulating online urged applicants not to lose hope despite the delay.

“Thousands are checking for updates. Thousands are fighting silent battles with fear, uncertainty and impatience,” the message read.

The post also encouraged applicants to remain patient and avoid falling victim to misinformation and recruitment scams spreading online.

As of the time of reporting, applicants are still waiting for an official announcement concerning shortlist release, screening dates or the next recruitment phase under the CDCFIB 2025/2026 exercise.
