The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology has opened another opportunity for applicants on the reserve list of the Youth and Students in Innovation (YSI) Cohort 1 programme to secure available places.
In an email to applicants, the programme said some places had become available after selected candidates vacated their slots. The openings are being offered to reserve-list applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.
Claiming opened at 5:00 a.m. WAT on Thursday, October 1, and will close at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The programme warned that the number of available places is lower than the number of applicants receiving the offer. Therefore, submitting a claim does not guarantee admission.
Applicants who claim after all places have been taken will join a queue. If another place becomes available before the deadline, it will be offered automatically according to queue order.
The email also stated that applicants who secure a place must participate in the virtual phase scheduled for October 5 to 27, 2026.
A compulsory orientation is scheduled for October 2 at 10:00 a.m. WAT. Those offered places after the orientation can watch its recording on the programme’s YouTube channel.
The offer is specifically for applicants on the reserve list. Applicants should use the individual claim link provided in their official email.
How to claim a place
Applicants who received the reserve-list email should open the message and click the “Claim my place” button. The link is personalised and can only be used by the intended applicant. Follow the instructions to submit the claim as soon as possible, since available places will be allocated in the order applicants claim them.
Applicants should check their email for the offer and act before the October 4 deadline. A claim does not guarantee a place if all available slots have already been taken.
