The Federal Government has expressed its readiness to strengthen the link between innovation, technology and economic opportunities in Nigeria.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, stated this when he received the Executive Director of Divine Mission for Chris Amani Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ubung Umo, who led a delegation to his office.
Muhammad said the visit provided an opportunity to examine how innovative ideas and private-sector initiatives could help address national challenges.
He said the ministry was committed to creating an environment where Science, Technology and Innovation could be transformed into practical solutions, economic opportunities and improved quality of life for Nigerians.
The Permanent Secretary stressed that innovation should not remain at the level of ideas or presentations. He said appropriate mechanisms were needed to support the development, validation, adoption, commercialisation and wider deployment of innovative solutions.
He also called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, private companies, research organisations, innovators and other stakeholders.
Muhammad encouraged the visiting company to continue developing its initiative while exploring areas of possible collaboration with relevant departments and agencies of the ministry.
He further said the ministry remained open to engaging organisations whose initiatives could contribute to national development through Science, Technology and Innovation.
Earlier, Umo thanked the Permanent Secretary for the opportunity to present the organisation’s initiative to the ministry.
He expressed the company’s willingness to explore collaboration with the ministry and other relevant stakeholders.
The engagement highlights the Federal Government’s focus on moving innovation beyond ideas and presentations towards solutions that can be developed, adopted, commercialised and deployed to address real needs.
The ministry said stronger partnerships with innovators and the private sector would remain important in translating technology into practical development outcomes for Nigerians and creating new opportunities.
