The Federal Government has commenced the training of State Coordinators of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) as part of efforts to strengthen poverty reduction programmes and improve the delivery of social interventions across Nigeria.

The training, which focuses on the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU) framework, is expected to enhance planning, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation processes within the agency, ensuring that social investment programmes achieve measurable results for vulnerable Nigerians.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day stakeholders’ engagement workshop in Abuja on June 10, 2026, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of NSIPA, Associate Professor Badamasi Lawal, said the Federal Government remains committed to reducing poverty, promoting social inclusion, and improving the welfare of citizens through effective implementation of the agency’s programmes.

According to him, achieving these objectives requires more than programme execution. He noted that strong systems for performance tracking and accountability are critical to ensuring that government interventions reach intended beneficiaries and deliver expected outcomes.

Lawal said the CRDCU template serves as an important tool for State Coordinators, providing a structured framework for capturing programme data, monitoring progress against targets, identifying implementation challenges, and presenting evidence of performance.

“As State Coordinators, it is imperative that you understand the importance of the CRDCU template as a tool for capturing key data on the Agency’s activities and programmes. The template provides a structured framework for recording deliverables, tracking progress against targets, identifying implementation challenges, and presenting evidence of performance,” he said.

The NSIPA chief urged participants to take advantage of the expertise of facilitators from the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination and the CRDCU. He also encouraged active participation throughout the training to ensure a better understanding of the framework and its application in programme delivery.

The training reflects a broader effort by the Federal Government to strengthen results-based management within public institutions. By improving data collection, reporting systems, and performance monitoring mechanisms, government agencies are expected to deliver programmes more efficiently and demonstrate their impact more effectively.

For NSIPA, this is particularly important given its role in implementing social investment initiatives targeted at reducing poverty and supporting vulnerable populations across the country.

Also speaking at the workshop, the Head of the Planning, Research and Statistics Department (PRSD), Dr. Binta Ibrahim, said the engagement was designed to deepen stakeholders’ understanding of the mandate, functions, and strategic importance of the CRDCU.

She described the unit as a critical link between policy formulation and actual outcomes, noting that effective coordination and performance monitoring are necessary for achieving results-oriented service delivery.

“The CRDCU serves as a vital link between policy intentions and actual outcomes. Through coordination, performance monitoring, data-driven reporting, and stakeholder collaboration, the Unit ensures that programmes are implemented efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with the Agency’s strategic objectives and presidential priorities,” she said.

Dr. Ibrahim encouraged participants to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and explore practical ways to support the work of the CRDCU in advancing NSIPA’s mandate.

The training is expected to equip State Coordinators with the skills and tools required to improve programme monitoring and reporting, helping the agency strengthen accountability and enhance the effectiveness of poverty reduction programmes nationwide.
