The Federal Ministry of Education (FME), Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centre managers have discussed an employment assessment for Cohort I graduates.

The update followed a meeting held on Friday, November 6, 2026. According to the information shared with centres, the assessment is being planned for graduates of the Federal Government’s first TVET cohort.

Details, including the assessment date, format and eligibility requirements, have not been announced. The meeting update said further information would be communicated to centres. No assessment timetable or details about employers have been released so far.

The planned assessment is intended to consider the employment readiness of Cohort I graduates. However, it does not mean that jobs have already been offered or that participants have been recruited. Graduates must wait for official instructions before taking further steps.

The meeting also addressed trainees who have received their start-up kits. They were encouraged to showcase the items and share their experiences on social media to increase public awareness of the programme.

The suggested hashtags are #TVET, #FME, #FMETVET and #TVETINITIATIVE. Trainees can use them when posting genuine accounts and photographs of the kits they received.

The update did not announce a new application exercise, stipend payment or additional distribution of start-up kits. It focused on the planned employment assessment and publicity by beneficiaries who had already received their kits.

What Cohort I graduates should do

Graduates should remain in contact with their training centres and watch for official communication about the assessment. They should not rely on unverified dates or claims of guaranteed jobs. Trainees with start-up kits can share photos and honest experiences using the suggested hashtags, while keeping their personal information private.
