A message shared by a Wema Bank customer shows that some recipients are receiving selection notifications. The SMS says the recipient has been selected for the ₦50,000 relief and provides instructions to accept the offer.
The development follows the government’s explanation that notifications and payments are being processed in phases. Beneficiaries who have not received a message should not assume they have been excluded. However, selection is not guaranteed, as the intervention targets households identified through the National Social Register and verified national identity records.
Wema Bank customers should use ALAT by Wema and follow instructions in a genuine notification. Opening an account alone does not mean someone has been selected.
How to receive the payment
If selected, follow the SMS instructions or dial ALAT’s NERSI USSD code, *945*23#, to give consent. The grant is free. Never pay an agent or disclose your PIN, OTP or BVN.
