The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has announced the start of the Technical Teachers Training Programme (TTTP) for the 2025/2026 academic year. The programme offers a fully funded one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) for teachers of technical and vocational subjects in Nigerian public secondary schools.
“This initiative is part of our commitment to upskill teachers and improve the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across the country,” the Ministry stated. “It is designed to produce graduates who can meet the demands of 21st-century industries.”
The PGDE covers areas in Technical Education such as Building Technology Education, Woodwork, Metal Work, Automobile, and Electrical/Electronics.
For Vocational Education, eligible courses include Business Education, Home Economics and Hospitality, Agricultural Education, and Computer Science Education.
Training will take place in six leading universities: Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Federal University of Technology, Minna; University of Benin; Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; and Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo.
To qualify, applicants must be teaching a vocational or technical subject in a public secondary school, have at least five years left before retirement, and be medically fit with a recent medical report.
The application portal opens on 8 July 2025 and closes on 21 July 2025.

Applicants must upload documents such as their appointment letter, confirmation of appointment, non-education degree or HND certificate, and state-of-origin certificate.
“This programme is completely free. No agents are involved. Any double application will lead to disqualification,” the Ministry warned.
