The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), in collaboration with Nigerian Breweries Plc, have announced the launch of a 9-month Technical Skills Development Programme for young Nigerians.

This intensive training will focus on Mechanical and Automation Maintenance & Engineering. According to the organisers, the aim is to help young Nigerians gain employable skills that are relevant in today’s job market, especially in the areas of technical education and engineering training in Nigeria.

In their words, “The programme seeks to promote a Public-Private Sector model for vocational and technical training that will support national capacity development.”

Selected participants will receive free tuition, lunch, and a monthly training stipend. However, it is important to note that this is a non-residential programme and trainees will not receive a salary. The training will take place at the Nigerian Breweries Supply Chain Academy and trainees may also be attached to any of the brewery locations across Nigeria.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of Lower Credit in HND or equivalent in courses such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, and similar fields.
  • Graduated in 2022 or later.
  • Must have completed NYSC before applying.
  • Must have credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

This initiative aligns with the increasing demand for engineering jobs in Nigeria and aims to equip young Nigerians with industry-relevant skills. While the programme does not lead to automatic employment with Nigerian Breweries, it provides a strong foundation for future job opportunities.
