Katsina State Government has announced a strategic partnership with Dar Blockchain, a Tunisia-based digital innovation company, to train 300 tertiary institution students in Web3 and blockchain technologies across the state.
The initiative, approved by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, is being coordinated through the Office of the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Innovation and Technology as part of the administration’s youth empowerment and digital transformation agenda.
According to the government, the programme is aimed at preparing young people in Katsina for emerging opportunities in the global digital economy while strengthening the state’s position in innovation and technology development.
The first phase of the programme will focus on training 300 students selected from tertiary institutions across Katsina State.
Eligible participants are expected to come from fields including Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, and Banking and Finance. The government also noted that non-technical students with a strong interest in technology will be considered for the programme.
The training curriculum will cover major areas in blockchain and Web3 development, including blockchain fundamentals, Web3 infrastructure, smart contracts, decentralised applications (dApps), digital assets, Decentralised Finance (DeFi), tokenisation, and blockchain security.
The programme will be delivered through a blended learning format combining online classes, workshops, practical sessions, and mentorship opportunities. Training sessions will be facilitated by experts and partners from Dar Blockchain.
Speaking on the partnership, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Innovation and Technology, Ibrahim Adamu, said the initiative aligns with Governor Radda’s “Building Your Future” agenda.
He said the programme was designed to build technical capacity among students and expose them to global innovation opportunities within the blockchain ecosystem.
“The initiative is focused on equipping students with future-ready digital skills and connecting them to opportunities in the global innovation space,” Adamu stated.
The Katsina State Government added that participants who successfully complete the training will receive certifications, mentorship support, and access to internships, hackathons, and career opportunities related to blockchain and Web3 technologies.
The partnership reflects the growing interest among Nigerian states in blockchain education and digital skills development as governments seek to prepare young people for technology-driven careers and innovation-led economic growth.
