In a major development today for youth empowerment, Katsina Local Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNICEF and the Department of Girl Child Education to launch the “Adolescent Community Hubs” Initiative.
“For months, we were discussing with UNICEF and the Department of Girl Child Education to shape a vision rooted in inclusion, dignity, and opportunity,” said Isah Miqdad, Executive Chairman of Katsina LGA. “Today, that vision has become reality.”
The initiative targets out-of-school girls and Almajiri boys, providing safe spaces where they can receive vocational training, mental health support, and guidance towards sustainable livelihoods. These hubs aim to reduce youth unemployment and promote social inclusion across Katsina.
Miqdad described the project as a “transformative investment in human capital and community resilience,” noting the long-term benefits in skill acquisition and youth development.
“As Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government, I am proud to stand with our partners in launching this bold initiative,” he added. “Together, we are demonstrating that collaboration and commitment can change destinies and inspire lasting progress.”
