Kogi State youths are set to benefit from expanded capacity building initiatives as the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo continues to strengthen youth development efforts across the state.
The assurance was given by the Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, during a meeting with the state APC Youth leader and the leadership of GG-PEV LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION at his office.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Anyebe said the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development remains committed to creating opportunities that would support the growth, empowerment and emancipation of young people in Kogi State.
According to him, the present administration understands the importance of engaging youths through leadership development, partnerships and capacity building programmes that can prepare them for future responsibilities.
“The office is always open to discuss issues concerning the growth, development and emancipation of youths in the state,” the Commissioner said.
He added that the ministry would continue to work collectively with relevant stakeholders and youth-focused organisations to maintain cordial relationships among youths and development partners across the state.
Hon. Anyebe also assured the delegation that the ministry would support the forthcoming programme of the GG-PEV LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION, noting that strategic collaboration remains important in advancing youth-focused initiatives in Kogi.
Speaking earlier, the APC Youth leader in the state, Hon. Buhari Lokoja, commended the leadership style of the Commissioner, describing his approach to youth inclusion as impressive.
He said the Commissioner has continued to carry young people along in government activities and decision-making processes, adding that such leadership was encouraging for youths across the state.
“Personally, I am happy with the Commissioner, especially based on the way and manner he has been carrying the youths along in the scheme of things,” he said.
Lokoja further appealed to the Commissioner not to relent in his efforts towards youth empowerment and engagement.
Also speaking, the State Coordinator of GG-PEV LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION, Hon. Simeon Omale, said the visit was to formally inform the Commissioner about the foundation’s upcoming programme in the state.
He explained that the event would feature the presentation of an electrifying working document on Kogi Youth Leadership and Ten, alongside the Kogi National Public Lecture Day and Legacy Book Unveiling.
According to Omale, the programme is aimed at appreciating the leadership legacies of former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He further disclosed that the event would also include the presentation of Kogi Mega Awards to both leaders in recognition of their contributions to the development of the state and support for youth-focused initiatives.
