Are you ready to change Nigeria’s livestock industry using modern technology? Hack4Livestock is here to bring young innovators, developers, agricultural experts, and entrepreneurs together to solve real-life problems in livestock farming. This exciting hackathon offers a chance to create sustainable, tech-driven solutions that support farmers and boost the economy.

Nigeria’s livestock sector contributes over 5% to the country’s GDP and supports millions of people. But it faces serious challenges like animal disease outbreaks, limited market access, grazing problems, and conflict between farmers and herders. These issues have affected productivity, growth, and food security across the nation.

Hack4Livestock is looking for creative minds to design smart solutions using Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and remote sensing. These technologies have the power to revolutionise farming, but are still not widely used in Nigeria’s rural areas.

This event has clear goals. First, to build tech tools that help with livestock monitoring and disease prevention. It also aims to create early-warning systems using AI and GIS to reduce conflicts in farming communities. Another focus is to develop secure platforms through blockchain for honest and transparent livestock transactions.

Digital literacy is also key. The hackathon will work on expanding access to tech education for farmers and herders, ensuring that everyone can benefit from new tools. There will be strong collaboration between tech developers, agricultural experts, and local stakeholders to co-create lasting solutions.

Eligibility Requirements

People from different sectors are encouraged to apply—software engineers, app developers, agri-tech startups, data analysts, government officials, and even farmers themselves. Whether you’re creating digital livestock health tools or smart sensors for tracking cattle, your ideas can make a big difference.
