May 29, 2025 – President Bola Tinubu has officially invited the global community to Nigeria this December for the Motherland 2025 Festival, a major event set to boost tourism in Nigeria and reconnect the Nigerian diaspora with their heritage.

In a statement from the Statehouse, President Tinubu said, “In the spirit of democracy and national renewal, we are preparing to welcome the world to Nigeria soon for the Motherland Festival.” The event will highlight Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant tourism sector, and growing creative economy.

The government recognises the importance of the diaspora in nation-building. To support this, policies such as the diaspora bond and the non-resident Bank Verification Number (BVN) have been introduced to make it easier for Nigerians abroad to invest and contribute to economic growth.
