The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has graduated beneficiaries of its NDI Digitization Training Programme in Bayelsa State, marking the completion of an eight-week intensive digital skills training for youths drawn from the South-South geopolitical zone.
The graduation ceremony, held as the close-out event for the regional cohort, brought together NCDMB officials, trainees, and stakeholders, with the Board describing the initiative as part of its broader strategy to deepen youth empowerment through technology-driven capacity development.
The programme, which is an NCDMB-backed intervention, trained 180 young Nigerians across the country’s six geopolitical zones, equipping participants with practical knowledge in digital literacy, computer science fundamentals, and entrepreneurial development.
Speaking at the event, NCDMB’s Director of Corporate Services, Dr Abdumalik Halilu, led senior officials of the Board to present certificates to the graduating trainees, formally recognising their completion of the training.
Several beneficiaries said the programme had strengthened their employability and entrepreneurial readiness. According to participants, the training improved their understanding of business management, customer relations, communication, and workplace engagement, in addition to technical digital competencies.
Graduates also noted that the initiative provided them with hands-on exposure to skills increasingly required in Nigeria’s evolving digital economy, particularly as businesses and institutions continue to embrace digitisation.
The Board reiterated that the NDI Digitization Training Programme aligns with its statutory mandate to promote Nigerian content development by investing in human capital. NCDMB added that similar programmes would be extended to more regions, as part of efforts to prepare a larger pool of Nigerian youths for opportunities in the modern workforce and technology-driven enterprise ecosystem.
For the NCDMB, the graduation signals another step in linking local content policy with long-term digital workforce development in Nigeria.
