TechNexus Limited, in partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has announced the Port Harcourt Tech Expo 2026, a major technology conference and exhibition expected to bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and policymakers from across Nigeria and the diaspora.

The event, themed ‘Syntropy’, is scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12, 2026 at the EUI Events Center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to the organisers, the expo is designed to strengthen the technology and innovation ecosystem in the Niger Delta while creating opportunities for collaboration, investment and enterprise growth in the South-South region.

The annual gathering will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, startup pitch competitions, product exhibitions, networking sessions and business engagement activities targeted at founders, developers, creatives, corporate organisations and public sector stakeholders.

Managing Director of TechNexus, Belema George, said the 2026 edition is focused on building stronger connections between innovators and institutions that can support the growth of technology-driven businesses in the region.

George explained that the theme, ‘Syntropy’, was inspired by the idea of constructive synergy and collective progress, adding that the organisers believe collaboration among startups, investors, government institutions and private sector players can help unlock new economic opportunities for the Niger Delta.

He said the event goes beyond conversations about technology and is aimed at creating practical outcomes for entrepreneurs and innovators operating in Rivers State and neighbouring states.

According to him, the partnership with the NDDC aligns with the commission’s broader mandate to promote sustainable development in the Niger Delta through strategic investments, innovation and economic inclusion.

George noted that the expo is expected to attract participants from different parts of the country as well as Nigerians in the diaspora who are interested in the region’s growing innovation ecosystem.

He also disclosed that several private sector organisations, including financial institutions, energy companies and telecommunications firms operating in the Niger Delta, have already indicated support for the initiative.

“The Port Harcourt Tech Expo is our declaration that the Niger Delta is open for innovation,” George said.

“We are building a platform where the most brilliant minds in our region can meet the resources, mentorship and market access they need to thrive. SYNTROPY is not just an event, it is the beginning of a movement.”

The announcement comes at a time when conversations around regional innovation hubs and technology-driven economic diversification are gaining momentum across Nigeria.

While Lagos remains Nigeria’s leading startup ecosystem, there has been growing interest in expanding technology infrastructure and investment opportunities into other regions, including the South-South and South-East.

Industry stakeholders have increasingly pointed to the need for stronger support systems for founders outside major commercial centres, especially in areas such as funding access, mentorship, infrastructure and market visibility.

The organisers of the Port Harcourt Tech Expo 2026 believe the event can help position Rivers State as an important destination for technology innovation and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

Observers say Port Harcourt has continued to show signs of emerging as a growing tech ecosystem, driven by a young population, increasing digital adoption and the presence of entrepreneurs building solutions across sectors such as fintech, logistics, education, agriculture and energy.

The expo is also expected to provide startups with opportunities to connect directly with investors, corporate organisations and ecosystem enablers that can support business growth and expansion.

Beyond startup activities, the conference will explore broader discussions around digital transformation, innovation policy, enterprise development and the role of technology in regional economic growth.

For the NDDC, the partnership signals a continued push to support programmes that encourage youth development, entrepreneurship and innovation across the Niger Delta.

The commission has in recent years expanded its involvement in skills development and enterprise-focused initiatives aimed at improving economic opportunities for young people in the region.

With preparations underway for the 2026 edition, organisers say they are focused on creating a platform that not only showcases innovation but also drives long-term collaboration between government institutions, investors and the private sector.

The Port Harcourt Tech Expo 2026 is expected to attract a broad mix of startup founders, developers, investors, policymakers, students, creatives and technology professionals looking to explore opportunities within the Niger Delta’s growing innovation landscape.
