The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has announced a major programme focused on supporting women-led businesses, positioning it as one of the largest initiatives of its kind this year.
The event, themed “Strengthening Women-Led Businesses for Resilience, Recovery and Inclusive Economic Growth,” is designed to equip Nigerian women entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge and networks required to scale their businesses, particularly in the export space.
According to information released by the Council, the programme will highlight practical opportunities within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) while also addressing key challenges affecting women-led enterprises in Nigeria.
Participants are expected to gain insights across several critical areas, including:
- Export opportunities in Africa under AfCFTA for women-led businesses
- E-commerce and digital trade opportunities for Nigerian women entrepreneurs
- Tax compliance requirements for export-focused businesses
- Export franchising models for scaling women-led enterprises
- Networking opportunities with industry experts and experienced exporters
The initiative is being organised in collaboration with global partners, including the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the SheTrades programme, as well as the Women Exporters in the Digital Economy (WEIDE) initiative.
NEPC noted that the programme aims to strengthen the capacity of women entrepreneurs to compete effectively in both regional and global markets, while also promoting inclusive economic participation.
The event is scheduled to take place on 28 April 2026 by 9:00am at the NEPC Conference Hall, Export House, Abuja.
Stakeholders believe the programme will serve as a strategic platform for empowering women-led businesses, enhancing export readiness, and driving sustainable economic growth across Nigeria.
