A message claiming the Federal Government will begin a new Batch B of its ₦50,000 relief grant today, November 8, is circulating on social media. However, so far, the government has not announced a Batch B launch for the date.

The Facebook post, titled “F.G Relief 50,000 Batch (B),” says many Nigerians will be selected. It provides no official source or confirmation from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

The intervention is the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), launched on October 30 to provide ₦50,000 monthly to eligible vulnerable households. Beneficiaries are selected from verified national identity records and the National Social Register.

The government says payments are being made in phases, with approved providers contacting selected beneficiaries in batches. Notifications may therefore arrive at different times, but this does not confirm the specific Batch B claim or a new selection exercise today.

The five approved providers are ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo Payment Service Bank (PSB), NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint. Selected recipients receive an SMS and must consent before the money is credited to their mobile wallets.

There is no public application process, registration fee or agent who can add people to the list. Nigerians should avoid anyone demanding money or personal security details in exchange for the grant.

How to check

Check for an official SMS from one of the five approved providers. You can also use your provider’s official USSD code to check eligibility. For clarification, call the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222 or visit https://fmhapr.gov.ng/nersi/. Never pay anyone to secure a place.
