Youth empowerment drives Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda

The Chairman of the Tinubu/Dikko Assured 2027 (TDA) political support group, Umar Ahmed Zayyad, has said that youth empowerment remains a major pillar of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Mr. Zayyad stated this during an empowerment programme held in Katsina State. He explained that the President’s focus on youth empowerment has led to several programmes and policies aimed at improving the lives of young Nigerians.

He mentioned the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, which he said was designed to create economic opportunities for ten million young people at the grassroots level across the country.

Zayyad also highlighted the Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, a digital skills initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda. According to him, the programme was introduced to train three million Nigerians in high-demand technical and digital skills to boost their employability and competitiveness in the global digital economy.

“The Tinubu administration also introduced a number of initiatives to support MSMEs with interest-free loans. These include stimulus packages disbursed to small-scale entrepreneurs through SMEDAN and the Bank of Industry,” he said.

He further noted that another major initiative is the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has injected more than N250 billion and provided tertiary education loans to 788,000 students across the country.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s youth empowerment initiatives are driven by his strong passion for youth development and sincere commitment to expanding opportunities for young Nigerians. The youth-focused programmes of the administration are deliberately designed to be accessible and impactful, and millions of young people across the country can testify to the impact made on their lives by the programs,” Zayyad said.

He explained that TDA’s empowerment of 15 women and 15 young men from each of the 34 local government areas of Katsina State was aimed at complementing the youth empowerment efforts of the federal and state governments.

“In total, we empowered 330 beneficiaries in Funtua zone, 350 in Katsina zone, and 360 in Daura zone. We also plan to empower more traders with business incentives to encourage youth entrepreneurship in the state,” he added.

Zayyad urged all beneficiaries to make good use of the support by investing it wisely to grow their businesses.

PAP denies increasing monthly stipend from March 2026

The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has denied reports claiming that it plans to increase the monthly stipends of delegates from March 2026.

In a statement issued on Saturday by Mr Igoniko Oduma, Special Assistant on Media to the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, the PAP described the reports as false.

“The attention of the Presidential Amnesty Programme has been drawn to a social media post by one ‘Gen. Matthew Ekpe’ purportedly informing delegates of the PAP that there will be an increase in their monthly stipends from March, 2026,” the statement said.

According to PAP, the post also claimed that “there will be a full ongoing project set to train and empower delegates” and that “stipend will be delayed due to reproach documents from the CBN.”

“The PAP wishes to state that these claims are false,” the statement continued.

The Programme emphasized that under the leadership of Dr Dennis Otuaro, there has been no indication of any “increase in stipends”, “project set” or “delay in stipends payment” in 2026.

It added that “Dr Otuaro is strategically implementing the mandate of the programme within the framework of formal education and vocational training for delegates and beneficiaries, stakeholders engagement and peacebuilding, and post-training empowerment.”

The PAP urged the public to disregard the false post.

Senator distributes N200,000 grants, others to 1000 Lagos-West constituents

0

Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule, representing Lagos-West Senatorial District, held a mega stakeholders’ engagement and empowerment programme in Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, where she distributed tools and financial support to 1,000 constituents. The event, which served as a mid-term account of stewardship, featured the distribution of commercial mini-buses, sewing machines, laptops, and catering equipment to beneficiaries from the 28 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas within the district.

Originally scheduled for December 2025 but rescheduled due to administrative exigencies, the event was described by Adebule as part of her effort to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, especially in promoting job creation and poverty reduction.

“Nothing gives me more tremendous joy and satisfaction than putting smiles on the faces of people and renewing their hopes in a future of shared prosperity,” she said during her address.

Adebule explained that all 1,000 beneficiaries had completed intensive training in soft skills such as ICT, hairdressing, barbing, tailoring, and cosmetology. She added that, beyond equipment, some of the beneficiaries received cash grants of N200,000 each to launch their businesses.

Providing an update on her legislative record since June 2023, Adebule disclosed that she has sponsored 12 bills and co-sponsored six others, totaling 18 legislative contributions. She also noted that two of her motions have been adopted by the Senate.

Highlighting her constituency projects, she listed several ongoing and completed initiatives designed to boost grassroots development. These include two primary healthcare centres currently under construction in Igbolobi (Ojo) and Isokan (Ifako-Ijaiye), the construction of classroom blocks ranging from six to 18 units across Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Onigbongbo, Ojo, and Oshodi, the installation of over 1,000 solar street lights, completion of six solar-powered boreholes, and donation of seven transformers. She further mentioned the construction of a multi-purpose Youth Development Centre in Badagry, equipped with an ICT hub and sports facilities.

“The Federal Government has promised to ramp up cash-backing of ongoing projects. My next focus for the 2026 budget year will be road construction, specifically targeting inner roads that will provide succour to our people,” she said.

Commenting on the current economic challenges, Adebule urged citizens to remain patient and supportive of the ongoing national reforms. “The President is carrying out difficult but necessary reforms to reset our economy for sustainable and inclusive growth. He is walking the talk,” she stated.

The event was attended by notable figures, including members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) led by Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, the APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and the Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi).

Adebule expressed appreciation to her constituents and the party leadership for their continued support, assuring that the 2026 legislative year would deliver more people-centred projects across the district.

Lawmaker disburses N20m grants to 200 traders in Ekiti constituency

0

Hon. Olushola Fatoba has distributed business grants worth N20 million to traders across Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency of Ekiti State, with no fewer than 200 beneficiaries receiving support under the empowerment programme. Each beneficiary received N100,000 to help strengthen and expand their businesses within the constituency.

The intervention targeted APC women leaders, party delegates, ward chairmen, other party executives, and residents actively involved in different trading activities. The distribution was designed to support small-scale entrepreneurs and provide financial relief to traders facing business challenges at the grassroots level.

Speaking at the empowerment programme, Fatoba expressed appreciation to party members and constituents for their consistent support over the years. He said the encouragement from residents had strengthened his resolve to continue implementing people-focused initiatives that directly impact livelihoods.

“I sincerely appreciate the support and trust reposed in me by party members and constituents,” he said. “This empowerment programme is one of the ways of giving back and ensuring that the people feel the benefits of representation.”

Fatoba assured participants that the empowerment scheme would be sustained, noting that future phases would accommodate more small business owners across the constituency. He explained that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the lawmaker, the scheme is structured to stimulate grassroots economic activities and improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens. He stressed that effective representation goes beyond lawmaking and oversight duties.

“Representation is not only about making laws,” Fatoba said. “It also involves giving back to society and easing the burdens of constituents through targeted interventions in infrastructure development, business support and economic empowerment.”

He added that the selection of beneficiaries was carefully spread across Ado and Irepodun/Ifelodun local governments and all 24 political wards in the constituency. According to him, this approach was adopted to ensure fairness, inclusiveness and a broad-based impact.

The lawmaker advised beneficiaries to invest the grants strictly in their businesses rather than diverting the funds for personal use. He expressed confidence that the intervention would lead to improved livelihoods and positive economic outcomes across the constituency.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Ado Local Government Area, Mike Akinleye, commended Fatoba for the initiative. He encouraged beneficiaries to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in upcoming elections.

In his remarks, Dr Oloruntoba Ayinla assured beneficiaries of a smooth and prompt disbursement process, saying all forms and procedures would be completed without delay to ensure timely access to the grants.

Kogi resumes rollout of electric vehicle empowerment programme

0

Kogi State has resumed the rollout of Electric Motor Vehicles (EMVs) under the Kogi Central Constituency Development Programme. The development was confirmed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following the completion of key regulatory and structural requirements.

Speaking on the programme, Senator Natasha explained that the earlier pause in implementation announced during a recent town hall meeting in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area was deliberate and necessary to ensure full compliance with regulatory standards and the protection of public trust.

“We intentionally paused the rollout to get the structure right. Empowerment must be transparent, accountable, and sustainable. Public trust is not negotiable,” the Senator said.

She stated that the pause allowed for the formal registration of the EMV management company with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), ensuring transparent and responsible oversight of the initiative. She added that electricians and technicians were given comprehensive training to guarantee effective maintenance and long-term functionality of the vehicles.

“This programme is not just about distributing vehicles; it is about building capacity and systems that will last,” she added.

According to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, the CAC registration process has now been successfully completed, while vehicle registrations are progressing steadily. She noted that once the final registration processes are concluded, the locally assembled electric vehicles will be deployed without delay, enabling beneficiaries, particularly women and youths, to commence commercial operations as originally planned.

“Our goal is to empower our people with dignity by creating sustainable livelihoods, lowering transportation costs, and preparing Kogi Central for a cleaner, greener future,” Senator Natasha-Uduaghan stated.

She described the EMV initiative as a landmark programme that aligns economic empowerment with environmental responsibility through the adoption of clean and renewable energy solutions.

To ensure long-term sustainability and effective management, the Senator revealed that a newly registered Trust Fund has been established to oversee the EMV programme alongside other key constituency assets, including the SNAU Foundation Maternity Centre and the modern markets in Okene and Ihima.

“Structure ensures sustainability, and accountability guarantees equitable benefits for all. That is the foundation of every intervention we implement,” she emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Kogi Central Senatorial District has announced the commencement of applications for the Electric Motor Vehicle Technical Training Programme under the innovative Operate & Own Model (OOM).

The programme is designed to train 100 eligible indigenes and residents of Kogi Central in the operation and maintenance of electric and solar-powered tricycles. Successful participants will acquire hands-on technical and operational skills, with the opportunity to own and operate the eco-friendly vehicles for sustainable income generation and entrepreneurship.

“This is empowerment with purpose, creating jobs, promoting innovation, and giving our people the tools to thrive,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

Interested applicants have been advised to follow the application process as detailed in the officially released information materials.

FG to build settlements in Niger State to boost agriculture

The Federal Government has partnered with the Niger State Government to build organised settlements that will link farmers directly to large-scale agriculture. The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Niger State Government and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, with the Federal Ministry of Finance anchoring the agreement for the implementation of a Mass Housing and Agricultural Settlement Project in Niger State.

The MoU signing sets the policy and operational framework for the project, which combines housing development with agricultural production and rural infrastructure. The agreement outlines how federal and state institutions, working with private sector partners, will collaborate to deliver planned settlements designed to support farmers and improve agricultural productivity.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, described the agreement as a landmark initiative. She said it underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to cooperative federalism, inclusive economic growth, and strategic alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

With the Federal Ministry of Finance serving as the anchor institution, the project is expected to benefit from strong policy coordination, financial credibility, and institutional oversight. According to the Minister, this arrangement is intended to ensure that the initiative is effectively guided from the agreement stage through implementation and delivery.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite explained that the project is designed to integrate housing delivery with agricultural productivity, rural stability, and economic empowerment. She noted that in Niger State, housing challenges are closely linked to agricultural outcomes, food security, and rural livelihoods.

“Housing is a fundamental pillar of development. In Niger State, housing also intersects directly with agriculture, food security, and rural livelihoods. This project is therefore structured not merely as a housing intervention, but as a settlement framework for farmers aimed at strengthening agricultural value chains,” the Minister stated.

Niger State is one of Nigeria’s most agriculturally endowed states, with vast arable land and a large farming population. Despite this advantage, the state continues to face challenges such as insecure settlements, rural-urban migration, and limited rural infrastructure. These factors have constrained productivity and affected the sustainability of farming communities.

The Mass Housing and Agricultural Settlement Project seeks to address these challenges by providing secure and well-planned housing settlements for farmers. The settlements are to be strategically located to support agricultural production, storage, processing, and access to markets, enabling farmers to live and work within organised communities.

The Honourable Minister emphasised that anchoring farmers in stable communities with access to basic infrastructure would improve productivity and reduce post-harvest losses. She added that improved security and living conditions would encourage youth participation in agriculture and make farming more efficient, attractive, and profitable.

Sustainability and affordability were highlighted as core pillars of the initiative. The project will include integrated renewable energy solutions, such as solar-powered homes and community facilities. These solutions are intended to ensure reliable power supply, reduce energy costs, and support agro-processing and storage activities within the settlements.

In addition to renewable energy, the project will prioritise efficient land use, access roads, water infrastructure, and environmentally responsible building practices. These elements are designed to support long-term functionality and improve the quality of life in rural communities.

Reacting to the sustainability focus of the project, the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, expressed optimism about its transformative impact. He said affordability is central to sustainability and welcomed the emphasis on renewable energy solutions.

“When you say sustainability, affordability is very important. When I heard that a mini-grid has been deployed in Jos, it’s because it’s affordable. Diesel is not sustainable because it’s not affordable. For considering the factor of affordability in this project, we’re grateful,” the Governor said.

Governor Bago also announced the state’s commitment to the project by providing land for its implementation. He disclosed that Niger State has made available 100,000 hectares of land to support the housing and agricultural settlements.

“So, Honourable Minister, Niger State is bringing forward 100,000 hectares of land for this project. I want to assure you that with this initiative, you have solved 80 percent of our problems,” he said.

Drawing a direct link to the Federal Government’s development agenda, the Governor said the project aligns with the goal of transitioning citizens from poverty to prosperity. He noted that structured development and investment have helped other societies achieve economic growth.

“We’ve gone across the world and seen how people transit from poverty to prosperity. And I think the goal of the President, my father, is for us to transition our people out of poverty in the next four years, by the grace of God,” Governor Bago added.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang, also addressed stakeholders at the ceremony. He attended alongside other critical stakeholders, including the building contractor, and reaffirmed MOFI’s commitment to quality delivery and agricultural productivity.

Dr. Takang assured the Niger State Government of the contractor’s competence and credibility in delivering mass housing projects. He stressed that affordability would not result in compromised standards.

“We want affordable and decent houses. The fact that they are located in rural communities does not mean the quality should be compromised,” he said.

Beyond housing delivery, Dr. Takang highlighted MOFI’s role in strengthening the agricultural component of the settlements through partnerships. He said arrangements are being made to ensure farmers have access to essential agricultural inputs.

“We have partners who will supply affordable fertilisers imported in large quantities. We will also work with other partners to ensure access to key agricultural inputs, not only fertilisers, but also pesticides, high-quality seeds, and elements of mechanisation,” he added.

The project adopts an innovative financing model that blends public assets with private investment. This model is designed to ensure sustainability, transparency, and shared risk, while allowing government to focus on policy direction and oversight and leverage private sector efficiency and capital.

Beyond improving food security, the Mass Housing and Agricultural Settlement Project is expected to stimulate economic activity and generate employment across construction, agriculture, agro-processing, renewable energy, logistics, and community services. The initiative is also expected to support local industries such as cement, steel, transportation, and agro-allied enterprises.

Affordability and inclusiveness remain central to the project’s design. The settlements are tailored to the income realities of farmers and low- to middle-income earners, supported by transparent allocation mechanisms and governance structures to ensure benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.

The MoU sends a signal to the investment community that Niger State, working in alignment with the Federal Ministry of Finance and MOFI, is open to credible and impact-driven investment. Reaffirming federal commitment, the Honourable Minister assured stakeholders of continued coordination, fiscal discipline, and policy support to ensure the project moves from signing to execution and delivery.

“Through this partnership, we are not just building houses; we are creating stable farming communities, strengthening food security, and laying the foundation for sustained prosperity in Niger State,” she said.
