Represented by Dr Perpetua Iyere-Usiahon, Senator Kyari said the distribution of farm inputs was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to encourage and support farmers in achieving food sufficiency across Nigeria. He stated that “the initiative is a clear demonstration of government’s determination to ensure that farmers are well-equipped to produce more food and contribute to national development.”

Farm inputs distributed to cooperative groups, women associations, and farmers with special needs included knapsack sprayers, motorized sprayers, organic fertilizers, cocoa fungicides, and hammer mills under the second phase of the programme.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, while Delta State representative, Dr Edmund Orioko, pledged continued collaboration to promote food sufficiency and strengthen agricultural productivity across the state.

Nigeria for women program kicks off in Adamawa

Adamawa State has inaugurated the Multi-Sectoral Coordination Structure (ASMCS) for the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU) at the office of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. The event marks a major step in advancing women empowerment, economic inclusion, and sustainable development in the state.

The Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up Project is a World Bank–assisted initiative domiciled in the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The program will begin in three Local Government Areas—Madagali, Fufore, and Numan—approved by Governor Fintiri. It focuses on empowering women, improving their livelihoods, and institutionalizing women’s affinity groups that promote economic growth and financial inclusion.

According to officials, the NFWP-SU consists of three major components: Livelihood Programs, Community and Institutional Building, and Project Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation. These components are designed to enhance economic opportunities for unbanked and underserved women, promoting entrepreneurship and financial independence across the state.

In her remarks, the Co-Chairperson of the ASMCS and Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Neoido Geofry Kofulto, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his continued support. “We deeply appreciate His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his unwavering commitment to creating an enabling environment for women in Adamawa State,” she said. Mrs. Kofulto praised the administration for approving impactful initiatives aimed at empowering women and improving their socio-economic wellbeing.

Representing the Executive Governor, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Amos Edgar, emphasized the critical role of women in community development. “Empowering women is key to societal transformation. When given the right opportunities, women make a profound and positive impact on society,” he stated.

Mr. Edgar also called for collaboration and synergy among stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project, stressing that collective effort is essential for achieving lasting economic growth and gender equality in the state.

FG launches RHI green Nigeria challenge with N100 million prize

The Renewed Hope Initiative has announced the launch of the “RHI Green Nigeria Challenge” with the theme “Go Green Today for a Greener Tomorrow.” The national environmental competition aims to promote sustainability and address desertification through tree planting and community-led green projects across Nigeria.

According to the organizers, the challenge is divided into three categories: household, community, and state levels. Each category is designed to inspire active participation from Nigerians in environmental conservation.

In the household category, families from the 11 frontline states in Northern Nigeria — Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe, and Zamfara — are expected to plant at least one tree. Participants must provide video evidence showing before and after the tree planting exercise. “N20 million will be awarded to the best household,” the organizers stated. The deadline for submission is December 20, 2026.

The community category will involve local governments, communities, schools, and NGOs reclaiming degraded or abandoned spaces such as dump sites, landfills, and pathways, transforming them into green gardens, parks, and eco-friendly spaces. “N50 million will be awarded to the overall best community group,” the statement added. The deadline for submission in this category is July 15, 2026.

At the state level, all states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), except Enugu State, are eligible to participate. States will be judged based on the number of trees planted along major roads and inner streets, as well as overall environmental cleanliness. “N100 million will be awarded to the best-performing state,” according to the Renewed Hope Initiative. Enugu State has already received N100 million as RHI’s model green state for its achievements in greenery and cleanliness.

All video submissions are to be sent to the RHI Office, Statehouse, Abuja, or via email at rhi.greenchallenge@statehouse.gov.ng on or before December 20, 2026. The initiative aims to motivate residents in states vulnerable to desertification to actively engage in tree planting for a sustainable future.

TVET sends matching emails as trainees complain about distance, stipend

0

Federal Ministry of Education (FME) under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme is still sending confirmation emails to trainees who have been successfully matched to complete their registration.

The email, which carries the subject line “Congratulations – You Have Been Matched to Your Training Centre,” congratulates each trainee and informs them of the centre they have been assigned to.

The message reads in part:

“Dear Applicant,

Congratulations! You have been successfully matched to (name of centre), located at:

Address: …
Phone: …

You are required to report to your training centre within five (5) days of receiving this email to complete your registration. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your application, and your slot will be reassigned to another applicant.”

The letter also instructs trainees to log in to their portals and download resources from the Resources section, including their sample ID card and additional training materials. Trainees are told to print the sample ID card, attach their passport photograph, and bring it along when reporting to their centres.

According to the message, maintaining at least 65% attendance throughout the programme is compulsory to qualify for the monthly stipend. “We wish you a successful training experience as you take this important step in building your skills and future,” the message adds.

The next step for matched candidates is to either accept their placement, which is their assigned training centre, and upload a photo for verification, or reject the placement if they do not wish to proceed with that match. Once trainees complete their registration, their TVET approval status will change from “Approved” to “Registered.”

However, some trainees have expressed concerns about the distance to their assigned centres. Some said they spend up to N20,000 on transportation to and from the centres.

Regarding the TVET payment, Nigeriastartupact.ng confirmed that students in technical colleges will receive a monthly stipend of N45,000. Earlier, when the programme was first announced, the FME had stated the amount would be N22,500 per month for trainees. This new figure may still not be enough to cover transportation costs for trainees with distant placements.
