The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this during his visit to Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, on Thursday. The visit was part of the two-day Citizens’ Engagement Series and Federal Government Projects Tour of the South East.

“The Tinubu administration is committed to ensuring that no region is left behind in Nigeria’s development drive,” Idris said. He explained that the federal government’s policies are aimed at boosting infrastructure, improving public services, and promoting economic growth across all geopolitical zones.

Highlighting ongoing projects in the South East, the minister pointed to Enugu’s modern road networks, upgraded schools, and improved public facilities as visible results of the government’s plans.

FG to Begin Forest Guards Recruitment Project Under Renewed Hope Agenda

0

August 14, 2025 – The Federal Government has begun the process of establishing a forest guards programme as part of efforts to strengthen national security under the Renewed Hope agenda.

This development means that forest guard recruitment will soon commence in all states across the country.

President Bola Tinubu, on May 15, approved the creation of the National Forest Guard system as part of measures to address Nigeria’s growing security challenges.

According to the directive, each state is expected to recruit between 2,000 and 5,000 forest guards, depending on its capacity. Before this approval, at least 11 states had already set up forest guard units under various names but had not yet equipped or expanded them to meet national security targets.

Speaking at the inauguration of 46 new vehicles distributed to strategic commands and formations in Abuja, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, revealed that he had just attended a programme organised to start the forest guard establishment process.

Ribadu described the initiative as one of several steps being taken to protect communities and safeguard Nigeria’s natural reserves.

He said, “I tell you that what lies ahead is leadership that will transform and better Nigeria as part of the Renewed Hope agenda. I’m happy. Whenever things are improving in our country, the opportunity to be part of it is something we are all proud of and grateful to God for.

“Every day, something is happening, it is having a massive impact, and we are witnessing it daily. I’m just coming from an event to start the process of the forest guards. Every single day in our work, something new happens. Maybe quietly and silently, but it is happening.”

The National Security Adviser assured Nigerians that the country’s security affairs are being handled effectively.

“Just to let you know, dear Nigerians, your country is in good hands. Nigeria is handled very well and properly. And we can assure you that we will deliver. We never know what failure is, and this time also, you will also see the result of the work we put in, inshallah.”

Ribadu urged security personnel to stay motivated and committed to their responsibilities.

“Whatever it takes for us to have a peaceful, law and order country, go after the bad people, change things,” he said. He noted that “these last few years have been unprecedented in our country.”

From this development, potential applicants are advised to prepare, as the Federal Government is expected to announce the official recruitment process soon, with details on how the project will be implemented in each state.

FG Approves $125m IsDB Funding for Abia State, to Create 3,000+ Jobs

August 14, 2025 – The Abia State Government has announced that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the long-awaited USD 125 million Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) financing facility for the Abia State Integrated Infrastructure Development Project.

The approval, which came at the FEC meeting of Wednesday, August 13, 2025, marks a major step in a project that has undergone detailed consultations and procedural steps. Officials say the project is a key part of the State’s overall co-financing arrangement for its ambitious infrastructure development programme.

The total cost of the project is USD 263.80 million, to be funded as follows:
1. USD 125 million from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)
2. USD 100 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB)
3. USD 15 million from the Canada–Africa Development Bank
4. USD 23.80 million counterpart funding from the Abia State Government

The IsDB facility is critical because its financing agreement must be signed for the project to move forward, given the interconnected nature of the co-financing structure. The AfDB and Canada–Africa Development Bank financing agreements are already in place, with the AfDB loan agreement signed earlier in 2025.

Under the project, IsDB funds will be used to construct about 126 kilometres of roads in Aba, 35.57 kilometres of roads in Umuahia, and a connecting road between the two cities. It will also address critical erosion control works in the project areas. Once completed, the project will:
1. Reduce travel time in Abia’s busiest urban corridors
2. Create over 3,000 jobs for local residents
3. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
4. Improve access to social services
5. Attract private sector investment

The Abia State Government owns the project, which will be executed through the State Ministry of Works. Oversight will be provided by the State Steering Committee, which will guide the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) and all related stakeholders.

Procurement for IsDB-funded works and consultancy services will follow the Bank’s procurement rules, with payments made directly to contractors and consultants.

Officials noted that the FEC approval came after sustained engagement and coordination between different levels of government. They say the funding aligns with the administration’s vision of upgrading Abia’s road network, improving urban infrastructure, and incorporating sustainable development principles into major projects.

Governor Alex Otti, OFR, said the facility will fast-track road reconstruction in Aba and Umuahia, tackle erosion problems, and help create a more integrated transportation system to boost trade, enhance quality of life, and improve the State’s competitiveness. “This project will strengthen our ongoing efforts and accelerate the pace of infrastructural renewal in Abia,” the Governor said.

He expressed gratitude to key figures who made the approval possible:
1. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his trust and pragmatic leadership
2. The National Assembly for approving the borrowing plan
3. The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, for his leadership in concluding the financing process
4. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Attorney General of the Federation for their roles in facilitating the process
5. The Vice President of the IsDB, Dr. Mansur Muhktar, who reached out in November 2023 and ensured internal approvals were obtained for the facility
6. All other stakeholders who contributed to the success

Governor Otti emphasised that the Abia State Integrated Infrastructure Development Project will work alongside other ongoing projects to modernise transportation, revitalise urban areas, and make Abia a hub for sustainable economic growth.

He said the State is committed to transparent project management and ensuring that the funding delivers tangible benefits to residents.

Tinubu Launches N10m Interest-Free Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF)

0

August 14, 2025 – The Federal Government has officially launched the Presidential Initiative on Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF), aimed at providing financial assistance to academic and non-academic staff in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

The initiative, announced today, is a key part of President Bola Tinubu’s progressive investment in the development of education in Nigeria. The application portal, tissf.education.gov.ng, opened today for eligible staff to apply.

According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the TISSF is a strategic welfare programme designed to enhance the welfare of tertiary institution staff, support professional development, and promote financial independence.

“It will provide an interest-free loan of up to N10 million, with a repayment period of five years and a one-year moratorium,” he stated.

Dr. Alausa explained that beneficiaries could use the funds for transportation, small-scale agro-business ventures, medical expenses, family support, accommodation, and academic advancement.

He described the fund as “another evidence of Renewed Hope in action and a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to education and its component parts.”

The Minister compared the TISSF to the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that the latter has already been a success under the Tinubu-led administration. “Just like the student-oriented NELFUND, the TISSF comes as a timely and much-needed support intervention for academic and non-academic staff,” he said.

The TISSF is a crucial element of the National Education Sector Renewal Implementation (NESRI) framework, which is being championed by the Minister of Education.

Dr. Alausa confirmed that strict monitoring measures and a robust implementation template have been put in place to ensure transparency and effectiveness.

He thanked President Tinubu for his approval of the programme, emphasizing that it reflects the administration’s dedication to transforming the education sector and improving the lives of those who work within it.

According to the statement signed by Dr. Akande Abiodun, Director of Special Duties at the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, the mention of Auxiliary Nurses was an oversight.
