Over 4,000 Registered for Ongoing Gombe State Scholarship Scheme

The Gombe State Government’s ongoing scholarship registration has recorded over 4,000 students who have successfully enrolled across 61 approved centres. This initiative aims to boost access to education through financial support for eligible students in higher institutions.

Recall that Gombe State Scholarship registration is ongoing for eligible applicants.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Higher Education, Muhammad Shetima Gadam, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Builder Ahmed Sa’eed Guli, praised the government’s efforts.

He said, “Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has shown a strong commitment to the future of students in the state. His administration’s support is evident in the smooth running of this registration process.”

Guli revealed that Governor Yahaya had recently indicated plans to increase the scholarship funds and ensure timely disbursement. “This assurance was made by His Excellency during a recent media engagement,” Guli stated.

He further urged students and residents to continue supporting the current administration to enjoy more dividends of democracy in the education sector and beyond.

The Director of the Gombe State Scholarship Board, Adamu Madaki Kanawa, also commended the ministry staff, student bodies, and registration centres for their collaboration.

He said, “We appreciate the positive response from students who have completed their registration. I urge those yet to do so to take action, as the deadline is drawing near.” This scholarship effort remains one of the state’s major educational development strategies.

Bauchi State 2023/2024 Scholarship Funds Disbursement Ongoing

The Bauchi State Scholarship Board (BSSB) has begun the disbursement of scholarship payments to eligible students for the 2023/2024 academic session.

According to payment proofs so far gathered, a payment of N40,960.00 is being made to each beneficiary, and many students in various institutions across the state have already started receiving the funds.

“This is to inform all concerned students that the disbursement of scholarships is currently ongoing,” the board stated.

Several students have expressed their appreciation for the support. One student said, “I just received my scholarship alerts now. Thanks to Bauchi State Government.”

Others extended gratitude to His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad Kauran Daular Usmaniyya, commending his consistent support for students in the state.

The scholarship board has urged students to be patient as efforts continue to reach all eligible schools and individuals. Institutions and students who have not yet received payments are assured that updates will be provided as the process continues.

This disbursement reflects the state’s investment in education and student welfare.

All students from institutions who have not received their payments due to submission errors are hereby directed to immediately submit their corrected details to the NUBASS National Secretariat or contact 08110132466 or 09066160448.

The corrected details must include:

i. Full Name (As it appears on official documents)
ii. Matriculation Number/Student ID
iii. Account Number
iv. Bank Name
v. Phone Number
vi. Any other previously incorrect information

NCC Calls for Stakeholder Input on Licensing, Enforcement, and Internet Code Regulations

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is calling on stakeholders to provide comments on three newly released Consultation Papers. In line with its role under the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003, the NCC has published proposals on the Licensing Regulations 2019, Enforcement Processes Regulations 2019, and Internet Code of Practice 2019.

According to the Commission, “The Consultation Papers have been published on the Commission’s website (www.ncc.gov.ng) and it expects comments and feedback on the regulatory proposals presented in the Consultation Papers.”

This call for public input aims to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy, improve regulatory frameworks, and support a safer and more competitive telecom industry.

The NCC believes stakeholder engagement is key to developing policies that protect consumers and encourage compliance.

The notice, dated July 25, 2025, invites all interested parties to send written submissions addressed to Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Plot 423, Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja (Attention: Head, Legal and Regulatory Services).

Submissions can also be sent via email to stakeholders@ncc.gov.ng. All feedback must be received on or before Friday, August 29, 2025.

NITDA and Google Deepen Collaboration for Nigeria’s Digital Future

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, recently hosted Marcus Jadotte, Google’s Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy (Cloud), to strengthen ongoing collaboration and drive new investment in Nigeria’s digital economy.

During the meeting, both parties discussed aligning Google’s global tech investments with Nigeria’s national digital transformation priorities. Inuwa presented the NITDA Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), stating that it is fully in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He emphasized, “We are committed to creating a strong digital innovation ecosystem and a regulatory environment that attracts long-term investment.”

Jadotte reiterated Google’s readiness to deepen its presence in Nigeria. “We see tremendous opportunity for Google Cloud to play a major role in accelerating Nigeria’s economic growth through technology,” he said.

The partnership focuses on fostering cloud computing, tech infrastructure, and digital public policy to boost job creation, innovation, and long-term economic development across the country.

FG to Launch N50m STEMM Up Grant for Student in Tertiary Institutions

ABUJA – July 25, 2025 – The Federal Government has announced plans to launch the STEMM Up Grant, officially named the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medical Sciences Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG).

The new initiative aims to empower students in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions to develop scalable and job-creating ventures across key sectors.

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, will unveil the program in August 28, 2025. He made the announcement during a stakeholder engagement held in Abuja on July 25, 2025.

The event gathered Vice Chancellors, Provosts, Rectors, student leaders, academics, and development partners to discuss strategies for national development through education and innovation.

“This is more than a grant – it’s a launchpad for bold innovation,” Dr. Alausa said. “We are equipping students to create transformative solutions in tech, medicine, agriculture, and green energy.”

Targeting students from 300-level and above in STEMM fields, the initiative offers up to ₦50 million in startup capital for each selected project. In addition to funding, the program includes mentorship, business incubation, and continuous support to drive innovation and job creation.

The Bank of Industry (BOI) is partnering with the Ministry to implement the grant, ensuring transparency, effective delivery, and accountability.

Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, described the grant as “a strategic investment in Nigeria’s knowledge economy,” emphasizing its alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda focused on youth empowerment and sustainable economic growth.

The Ministry of Education affirmed its commitment to inclusive implementation, consistent monitoring, and tangible impact across Nigeria’s higher institutions.

FG Launches CEYI to Train Youth in Waste-to-Wealth and Green Entrepreneurship

The Minister for Youth Development, Olawande Emmanuel Ayodele, has inaugurated the planning committee for the Circular Economy Youth Capacity Building Initiative (CEYI) in a move to boost youth empowerment and climate action. The initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Youth Development, SAMU Technology Limited, and the Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN).

According to the Minister, “This initiative is a strategic step to provide Nigerian youth, especially those in the informal sector, with real-world skills and tools to transform waste into useful and marketable products.”

The CEYI program is designed to promote sustainable waste management by training millions of young Nigerians in areas like recycling, waste-to-wealth processes, and green entrepreneurship.

The aim is to tackle unemployment by empowering youth to turn environmental problems into economic opportunities.

“Our objective is to harness the energy and innovation of our youth to address pressing environmental challenges while unlocking new economic opportunities,” Ayodele added.

The initiative supports Nigeria’s national goals on climate resilience and sustainable development. By focusing on the circular economy, CEYI intends to raise a new generation of eco-smart entrepreneurs who can create value while protecting the environment.

Adamawa State ATM Card Distribution and Payment for Renewed Hope Cash Transfer

In a new update from Adamawa State, the government has announced the official schedule for the distribution of ATM cards and payment under the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Program. According to the statement, beneficiaries are expected to appear at designated venues with their registered phone number, National ID card, and BVN number for proper verification.

“This is to ensure smooth and transparent disbursement of funds,” an official said.
