WAEC to Release Results On or Before August 4 2025

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has addressed claims circulating online about the cancellation of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

In a statement made available to the public, the Council described the information as completely false and misleading.

According to WAEC, a press statement dated Saturday, July 19, 2025, has been circulating on social media platforms. It falsely claimed that the Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with WAEC, had canceled the 2025 WASSCE due to widespread examination malpractice, coordinated leakage of question papers, and unauthorized digital sharing of exam materials.

“The WAEC Management would like to state unequivocally that the spurious Press Statement being circulated did not emanate from the Council. The said examination has not been cancelled,” the Council said.

WAEC added that the source of the misinformation remains unknown but insisted it is a deliberate attempt by some individuals to cause confusion and panic among candidates and the general public.

“As a matter of fact, the marking of scripts of the said examination has just been concluded and results will be released on or before Monday, August 4, 2025,” WAEC confirmed.

The Council also emphasized that any official information regarding its activities, including examination results and updates, will only be shared through verified social media handles and accredited news platforms.

“All press releases are issued and signed by the Public Affairs Department of the Council on behalf of the Head of National Office,” it noted.

WAEC has therefore urged parents, candidates, schools, and the public to ignore the false report and await the official release of the 2025 WASSCE results as earlier scheduled.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education confirmed that both WAEC and NECO exams are not cancelled.

In other news, WAEC denied conducting 2025 Exam Diets in July.

Ebonyi to Empower Indigenes with Skills Acquisition Centres

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has announced a new programme aimed at bringing home indigenes of the state who are currently engaged in menial jobs in other parts of the country. He said the initiative is meant to empower them and help them become self-reliant.

The Governor made this known during a church service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on July 20, 2025.

“We will bring back our people who are doing menial jobs in other cities and empower them, since they are not even being appreciated by the people they are working for,” Governor Nwifuru said.

“After all, they are being exploited without commensurate remuneration. We are currently building warehouses and skills acquisition centres in our industrial city as part of measures to engage our youths meaningfully.”

The plan is part of a broader youth empowerment strategy which includes establishing facilities in Ebonyi’s industrial city to create jobs and support small businesses.

This move aligns with the government’s focus on economic growth, investment opportunities, and entrepreneurship support.

Governor Nwifuru also addressed the performance of some of his appointees. He expressed concern over what he described as a lack of results from certain individuals tasked with implementing government plans.

“We are worried that the vision statement as contained in our people’s charter of needs has not been satisfactorily realized, which accounted for the minor reshuffle we did,” he said. “Our mission and vision are explicit, and that is why the people voted for us. However, we are still assessing them and we shall do the needful if the need arises.”

He said non-performers may lose their positions if they fail to improve during the grace period.

The Governor further urged Ebonyi leaders to ignore negative social media commentary and instead return to invest in the state.

He assured that the government is creating a business-friendly environment where industries and private investments can grow.

TVET Begins Trainers Accreditation, Post Sparks Reactions

July 20, 2025 – A Facebook post making rounds online has stirred conversation among Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainers, following a claim that accreditation has officially started.

Recall that TVET trainers recruitment was recently conducted, and successful trainers will be paid N30,000 per student. Accreditation has started, according to circulating reports.

According to a post, “Accreditation process has commenced! I’ve just received a call from TVET officials and had a productive meeting at their state office. They’re visiting my training center tomorrow (Monday) for accreditation.”

The poster also promised updates: “I’ll be sharing live updates on my Facebook page during their visit, so be sure to follow for real-time insights!”

Although this development is not yet officially confirmed, the post has quickly gained attention online.

More details to be updated shortly.

News Update:

The FME TVET initiative has commenced the verification process for accreditation centers for trainers. It is expected that applicants’ dashboards will be updated to “Approved” by the last week of July. The program is scheduled to begin in the first week of August 2025.

News Update (July 23, 2025)

The ongoing TVET accreditation exercise has begun in several states, with assessors already visiting training centres for physical verification. At some centres, the team inspected facilities, took photos, and recorded the GPS location of the premises.

Trainers were also asked to resend the same pictures used during registration, but this time through a WhatsApp number provided by the assessors. This step is part of the verification checklist.

In some states, fewer centres have been included in this first phase. However, it looks like more centres will be added in subsequent rounds. So, if your application status currently shows “Verified Submission,” stay alert—you may soon receive a call for physical assessment.
