Bayelsa State College of Nursing Sciences Begins 2025/2026 Admission

Bayelsa State College of Nursing Sciences, Tombia-Ekpetiama, has officially announced the commencement of its admission process for the ND/HND Nursing Programme for the 2025/2026 academic session. The Registrar, Appah Tonbara Ruth, released the information in a public notice.

According to the notice, “Sales of form begins 14th July, 2025 to end on the 12th September, 2025.” Prospective applicants are advised to confirm they meet all requirements before starting the process. These include a minimum JAMB score of 140, being at least 16 years of age, and possessing at least five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from either WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, not exceeding two sittings.

The application begins with a payment of a non-refundable fee of ₦25,000 to the official account at Sterling Bank. After payment, candidates are to take their bank teller to the College’s Bursary Department to receive a receipt containing a unique number.

This receipt number is essential for accessing the online application form via the College portal. Applicants are required to fill out the form with accurate information and upload scanned copies of their WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, and JAMB results. After submission, an acknowledgement slip will be generated. Applicants are advised to print this slip and keep it for reference.

Abia EDC Reschedules 2025 SS2 Central Promotion Exam Dates

The Examinations Development Center (EDC) has announced a rescheduling of the 2025 Mandatory Central Promotion Examination (MCPE) for all SS2 students in the Abia State school system. Initially scheduled to run from Tuesday, 15 July to Thursday, 24 July, the exam will now hold from Thursday, 17 July to Friday, 25 July, 2025.

In a public statement, EDC said, “This change is to ensure everything is put in place before the exam commences.” The shift in dates aims to allow for proper coordination and preparation across all participating schools.

The center further added, “The management of EDC regrets any inconvenience this might have caused.” A revised exam timetable has been released and is now available.

5,746 Shortlisted for 2025 PTDF Overseas Scholarship Interviews

Monday, July 14, 2025 – The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has shortlisted 5,746 candidates across Nigeria for its 2025 Overseas Scholarship Scheme interviews.

The process officially began on Monday at the Kaduna interview centre, one of six locations designated for the selection exercise nationwide.

According to PTDF, 3,875 candidates were shortlisted for Master’s (MSc) programs while 1,871 were chosen for Doctorate (PhD) studies. In Kaduna centre alone, 560 candidates are participating, with 350 scheduled for MSc interviews and 210 for PhD.

Atahiru Ahmad, the Manager of Training at PTDF, addressed the media during the exercise. He explained, “We are expecting 350 candidates in Kaduna this week for the MSc interview. We schedule them for morning and afternoon.”

Ahmad said that six interview centres were created to ensure accessibility and convenience for candidates, allowing them to pick locations closest to them. “PTDF was saddled with the responsibility of developing capacity for the oil and gas industry. So, we are looking at oil and gas-related courses,” he added.

The scholarship interviews focus on high-demand fields like energy, petroleum engineering, environmental management, and financial technology, aligning with the fund’s mandate to boost expertise in Nigeria’s energy sector.

Also speaking at the venue, Dalhatu Ibrahim, Director of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) in Katsina State, emphasized that fairness and transparency were being observed.

“This is not the first time the PTDF is conducting this. They have their criteria on the basis of which they make their selection and shortlist on the basis of those criteria. They shortlist, they invite, and we come to monitor how fair and equitable the process is,” Ibrahim said.

Applicants shared their motivations for applying. Capt. Chukwuebuka Nwali from the Nigerian Army Education Corps applied to study Nuclear Physics. He aims to help solve corrosion problems in the oil and gas industry. “I want to add value to the country after completing my studies abroad,” Nwali said. He mentioned learning about PTDF opportunities through friends and social media.

Another candidate, Ibrahim Jamilu, a trained geoscientist, applied to study Environmental Geology. He said, “My studies would help me understand the interaction between human activities and the geologic environment, enabling me to address environmental issues.”

Habiba Ali, an economist, is applying for a scholarship in Computational Finance. She said, “I want to leverage this knowledge to address Nigeria’s financial sector issues.” She hopes to use technology to improve financial management and economic development, especially in the oil and gas space.

PTDF Reschedules Interviews Slated for July 15 to Public Holiday

The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has announced a shift in the interview schedule for candidates earlier set for Tuesday, July 15, 2025. This change follows the Federal Government’s declaration of a public holiday in honour of the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

PTDF management said, “All affected candidates will receive individual notifications with the updated date, time, and venue for their interviews.” This update is intended to ensure candidates are properly informed and prepared for the rescheduled sessions.

The fund advised candidates to stay alert and monitor their emails and the official PTDF website for timely updates and further instructions. The organization added, “We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we join the nation in paying tribute to the life and legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari.”

FG Declares Tuesday July 15 Public Holiday to Honour Late Buhari

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Tuesday, 15 July, 2025, as a public holiday to honour the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. This announcement was made in continuation of the seven days of National mourning earlier declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In a press statement released by the Ministry of Interior, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, confirmed the holiday on behalf of the Federal Government. He stated that the declaration followed the approval of President Tinubu.

According to the Minister, “President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of our great nation. This public holiday provides an opportunity for all Nigerians to reflect on his life, leadership, and the values he upheld.”

He explained that the holiday is a mark of respect for the late President’s long-standing service to the country, his key role in Nigeria’s democratic process, and his lasting impact on national development. Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to honour Buhari’s memory by promoting peace, patriotism, and national unity.

Citizens are also reminded that the national flags are to be flown at half-mast throughout the seven days of mourning, which began on Sunday, 13 July, 2025. This is in alignment with federal directives issued during national periods of mourning and respect.

Federal University of Applied Sciences Kachia Begins 2025 Application Process

July 14, 2025 – The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK), has officially commenced its application process. Recall earlier that the university officially released its JAMB cut-off marks, which ranged from 180 to 240 in Medicine and Surgery being the highest.

Today, according to the institution, “Applicants should visit https://applicant.fuask.edu.ng and create an account if they have not done so already by clicking on New Applicant.”

Once an account is created, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of N2000 through the online portal. FUASK stated, “You can pay with your ATM card directly or generate the RRR and go to a bank and pay.”

After payment, the online application forms become accessible from the applicant’s dashboard. The university emphasized, “Fill and submit all the forms. Note that you will not be able to submit if you don’t fill all the forms.”

Candidates must also print and physically submit their completed application forms to the University’s Admissions Office.

NDPC Call for Papers for 2025 International Journal of Data Privacy and Protection

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has officially announced a call for papers for the second edition of its peer-reviewed International Journal of Data Privacy and Protection (IJDPP), with ISSN 1595-0794. The theme for the 2025 edition is Advancing Compliance and Safeguarding Rights in the Age of Emerging Technologies.

According to the NDPC, the journal is part of its “strategic commitment to knowledge-driven regulation and responsible data governance.” The publication aims to create a platform for critical discussions, research, and practical solutions within the data protection field. The Commission is inviting contributions from a wide range of stakeholders, including researchers, privacy professionals, policymakers, legal experts, and technologists.

The journal’s second edition will cover important topics such as data subject rights, data privacy impact assessments, and privacy by design/default. The NDPC said this edition “seeks to explore critical issues at the intersection of Compliance, Data Subject Rights, Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Privacy by Design/Default, and the impact of Emerging Technologies on Data governance.”

Submission guidelines state that each article must contain a 250-word abstract, follow APA 7th edition referencing style, and be formatted in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced, with page numbers. Acceptable types of submissions include research articles, policy briefs, and case studies, with word counts between 3,500 and 7,000.

The NDPC also confirmed that “the review process will follow a double-blind model,” ensuring transparency and fairness.
